Default Why am I knocking? MS2E

This is my first car to tackle the tuning on my own. I've done tons of reading and research on here and other sites, bc I hate to clog up forums with useless stuff. But I've run into an issue that I can seem to figure out on my own.

I'm experiencing a semi random hard to pinpoint "knock" issue. For back story I've tried retarding the timing over 100kpa by as much as 4* and I still get knock retard for a short period. I'm going to attempt to attach my current .msq file, and a short log I took today on my way to work.

Important Info:

Car: 1999
ECU: Reverant MS2E
Engine: rebuilt 1.8, 1mm oversized intake valves, forged rods, ceramic coated oe pistons, arp head studs
Turbo: FMII GT2560, cast log manifold, intercooled
Injectors: RX8 Yellow
Octane: 93
Exhaust: 3" turbo outlet back, no cat

***I've only tuned up to 60-70% throttle input and ~8psi.***

Have you verified that it is actually knocking? Rev's stuff is better, but MS knock control is not the greatest from what I've heard, might just need to fine tune the knock settings a bit.

knock dashpot may just need to be turned down due to oversensitive (if it's not actually knocking, you'd have to verify w/ det cans)

sorry can't see your msq/msl from work

Here is a screen grab of the main incident. Both with and without showing knock retard, and one with spark advance. Also including my knock sensor settings and noise filtering.

That's all well and good, if you are 4deg retarded from basemap settings I don't see how it could be knocking.

You need to determine if it is or not, logs will not show that.

Looks like I'll be making some det cans over the weekend. I don't see anything wrong with something like this? How to make and install a det can - HomemadeTurbo - DIY Turbo Forum

DIY electronic detonation detection/det cans for under 25 dollars - D-series.org

I made these, but they have a lot of interference. If I could do it over, I would make them with shielded wire.

So I built and installed the DET Can that I linked to in my last post, and confirmed that I was actually knocking. So I took a closer look at my spark table and made some changes and was able to get rid of the knock. I'd like some input on where I started to where I am now. I'm running low boost right now so the problem area was between 128Kpa and 156kpa.

Picture Order:
1: Current Settings that fixed the knocking issue
2: Settings before fixing the knock
3: A table I found on the forum that I original started with a few months ago.

1-Spark table that fixed the knock

2-Spark Table that was knocking

3-Starting Spark Table that was also knocking.

Gibbs,

I thought you said you pulled 4 degrees and it was still knocking? Or was it knocking at a different range then you were pulling timing from?

I was pulling more timing at a higher kpa than I was actually in. The area of detonation was in the 4000-5200 RPM and 101-156kpa square.
