Default Looking at buying a MS from someone

MSPNP Pro for Mazdaspeed Miata, they are selling it pretty low, just looking to find out if theres ways to tell if the unit is good just by plugging it up to megasquirts tune program, etc.

Claims unused, does have invoice in hand, selling it for 850, usual price is 1300. They said they have had it sitting around for a while(they bought it in february 2015)

Anything to lookout for besides broken pins or something of that sort?

i cant imagine one being DOA. unless they opened it up and start poking at it with a hammer...

So the only way to tell really is just hook it up to the laptop and see if it pulls anything off the unit?

Even if you hook it up to tunerstudio doesn't mean the thing works as intended. All you will know from that is that it boots and communicates with a laptop.

It's still just sending dumb signals to electrical circuits that might not respond as intended. Course they'd have to be poked with a hammer to not work right, that's a pre-built unit not DIY.

It's probably fine.

Yeah probably fine. I got one for 900 late last year. 850 is even better.
