Default help fine tuning cold start. starter kicking back/stalling

I've been playing with settings on my DIYPNP for about a week now and my startup and idle for the most part is pretty good. The exception is when it is cold, it still is taking a little longer to start and the starter kicks back a couple times while cranking. To me it seems like a timing thing. The cranking advance was set to 10 degrees and the last setting I changed was bringing it down to 8. Hard to tell if it made a difference this morning, but the car did start on the second try, although it was a little warmer this morning (27 degrees as opposed to 20). I've included my msq and log of startup this morning in hopes someone more knowledgeable than me can steer me in the right direction as to if this is a fuel, air, or timing issue. Thanks!

Car is a 93 with 99 engine running 99 throttle body, and 93 CAS and coils.

I'm having similar issues so I'll be following this thread.

Just an update, this morning I had the cranking advance set to 0 degrees and this morning (40 degrees) it started with no kickback, although once it fired, it was barely idling for a few seconds until it revved it self up to over 1k and settled at normal idle. I would post the log, but my laptop lost sync before it could start. I'll post back with any new updates.

Sounds like you have too much fuel druing cranking.

Once it starts, sounds like you need to tune your ASE and Warmup.

So my suggestion is to: tune.

I've been tuning for the past week and a half! It sucks to only get one or two cold starts a day to try. I haven't really touched the warmup enrichment since once it settles down to idle, it idles pretty good, even when cold. I'll try bringing down the ASE and see what that does. Thanks for the suggestion! Slowly but surely, I'm getting closer!

the kick backs sounds like too much fuel, the struggling to idle sounds like not enough, or bad cranking/intial duty settings.
