Default Microsquirt v2.2 cooked.

2000 miata LS 60k miles with IAT mod and NGK powerdex and a 94 alternator.
thats it for mods.

after about 3 days of the car running great on megasquirt, merging on to the highway i started to experience power loss, so i pulled off and the car started just billowing white smoke.

of course i thought, oh no my head gasket. but given the mileage, the fact i'm not losing coolant, my coolant isnt bubbling, and my compression is good i certainly ruled that out.

next i tested for spark. i am getting no spark in 4, but i am getting it in 1. its intermittent so i replaced coil pack, plugs, wires, nothing. with the output test mode i could get coil b and d to click, but not spark and that was it.

so i pulled out my brain and this is what i found smelled before even opening it.

any ideas?

Agreed, somehow you've blown an injector driver on the uS card.

Usually this happens if your injector's coil is damaged (zero resistance on the coil) or if you have low impedance injectors or if there's a short on the injector low side to 12V.

well, here is what has been concluded:

nothing really.

alright well.... idk, tunelife is a trial and error sort of thing.

DIYautotune was curious about my alternator setup, thinking the short could have come from that setup. the car was running for about a week fine before it blew that drive transistor.

i used a 94-95 alternator that self regulates voltage. it was charging fine, we had the dash light working properly as well.

DIY assumed it as a defective resistor and warrantied out the board. it will be here next week or so.

i plan to install my 650cc injectors even though i am not turbo yet.
Custom Fiveo 026IMP650X are the injectors i got off of Custom OEM Fuel Injectors from FiveOMotorsport

idk. here we go. i'm just praying i dont have the same issue again and its something wrong with my car causing this. i pray pray pray that it was indeed a defective drive transistor.
