Default mspnp and 99 motor questions

I'm going to get my 1.8 t-body machined for the 1.6 tps, but what about the IAC? I just found out it was different. Any ideas what is different and what must be done for it to work?

Thanks

Are you taking care of the alternator? The 99+ ecu controls the alternator the pre 99 does not.

that's no biggie, you just use an older alternator. There are a couple ways to do it.

I thought I could use the old, late 1.6 alternator?

WTF?

Oh ****, I forgot about the return-less fuel rail. Can I run an NA 1.8 rail?

You can't run an NA 1.8 rail. However, you can put the NA 1.8 fuel pressure regulator / return in place of the fuel damper on the 99 rail. That's how my car is setup at the moment, and I haven't had any problems.

I haven't tuned a '99 IAC yet... if it's the same as the '95 I could get you settings that would work though. It's just going to be a matter of setting the frequency properly and the minimum DC. The other stuff should be really close to correct, may need minor tweaking at the most. Frequency is the most important setting.

I'm interested in the settings. I just emailed you at the "sales address" btw. Any comment on the TPS issue? I can deal with adjusting it. Thank you.

Just emailed you the settings for the '95 IAC (screenshots). On the TPS I think Matt responded before I got to it, basically on how to wire it in, it's covered in the manual how to modify the MSPNP to add a POT-type TPS to the MSPNP MM9093.

cool, so we should be able to use any throttle body. I'd rather not have to use a the t'body adapter plate if not necessary.

hustler, the 1.8 fpr fits perfectly.

Correct-- the ECU doesn't care about the physical throttle body a bit. If you're modding it for a POT-type TPS that just needed to be wired correctly and you're good to go. You can calibrate the TPS inside of MegaTune.

diy coming to the rescue:
Trey, The IAC on the '99 model is still a two wire and works in a similar fashion. As long as you wire the positive terminal to 12 volts and the negative one to the MSPNP, the hardware control should work fine. We have not tested if the settings are correct for a '99 IAC and so you may need to change the settings a bit. However, the hardware should work with either one. And you're right that the MSPNP ignores the TPS on a 1.6. You can simply leave the 1.8's disconnected, too. We have directions for how to modify the MSPNP for a TPS on the install CD - while we can't cover this under warranty, we did include a breakout section for the stock TPS wires on the 1.6 harness for wiring up a TPS conversion. If you have any other questions, let me know. Matt

Just remember the 99 IAC does not have the wax valve in it, so it will react to things differently. But if you get the settings for one.......

Probably require a modification of the connector for the wiring too.....

Dave,
no, its a 2 wire sensor, but may need different settings.

I still need to see if the 1.6 fuel pressure regulator and return lines will work on the 99 rail.

I understand it mounts to the rail fine, but it won't allow the rail to fit on the motor properly. it contacts the head or something. anyway, the people who have done it before say to use the 1.8 fpr.

I'm welcome to last month on this, but with the 94 regulator, you just have to mount it upside-down, and it works fine.
