but i overlooked the part about the MSII baud rate being 115200. i've been trying at 9600. hopefully that will fix the problem. unfortunatly i wont be able to try until tomorrow.

That just might do it. MS 2 likes a faster baud rate like a fat kid likes cake.

so i was able to connect to the MS after i used the correct baud rate. however, when it does connect i get an error message about "firmware signature mismatch".

i tried to follow the tunerstudio instructions on the turbomiata wiki, but when i hit the detect firmware button in the new project box, TS crashes everytime....

then i decided to just download the firmware, i assume it's one of these:
http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms2extra/files/alpha/

but which one?

halp?

Nobody can answer that for you, except maybe the guy who built the ECU, and that's only if he remembers. You're the guy looking at the screen, so this is going to fall on you. You have two options:
  1. ask the MegaSquirt what firmware has been loaded and then download the same definition from the internet and point your TunerStudio project to it
  2. Download a firmware definition of your choice, flash it to your MegaSquirt, and then point your TunerStudio project to it
The application requires MS2/Extra firmware. I generally recommend 2.1.0 for MS2 noobs, unless you have a DIYPNP (go with the newest 3.0.3 for DIYPNP).

when i get the error message about the firmware mismatch, it tells me the firmware # for the project and the controller (?? i'm not looking at it right now but i think thats right.) i want to download the firmware for the project (i assume this is the FW thats currently on the MS) and tell TS to use that???

is that right?

i didnt see any on that list that looked right. if memory serves it was 2.1.1a

can i flash the MS without REALLY connecting to it? all i can get is the error about the firmware mismatch

i apologize for being such a total worthless
