Must one pull the SD card to read, or can it be read through the Serial or USB port?

You can read the data logs over serial, just like the regular MS3-Pro.

any plans for a DIYPNP based on the ms3 cpu/firmware?

or how about just a case that can fit a v3.0 baord and ms3 + expander and has an integrated connector board like the diypnp. That would be pretty sweet.

The DIYBOB was intended to meet that function for the MS3 kits. We didn't have too many good options for a MS3 based DIYPNP with the current architecture:

1. An MS3-Pro Module in a DIYPNP case would be close to a $1000 price tag.
2. Turning the V3.0 board sideways in a DIYPNP case would leave you no good place for the MS3 or MS3X.
3. Putting a DIYPNP adapter board on DB37 end of a V3.0 board would end up with a massively long case without a good way to support the MS3X board.

That's exactly what I am looking for Scott. All the functionality of the fully loaded MS3 in a new DIYPNP box that allows us to customize it anyway we need for our application. In addition I think the USB connection is important and with the $1200 PNP Pro you don't get USB.

I also see Matt's response on the challenges of accomplishing this goal, but I think he's missing the target. I have seriously considered buying the fully loaded MS3 with two DB37 cables and the BOB, but I just can't imagine how to make that look professional. A larger DYIPNP box would be a better solution in my opinion.

The obvious solution would be to throw away the V3 motherboard and make something else that would fit into the DIYPNP case and accept the MS3 daughter board. Unfortunately, that would not be a legal Megasquirt as I understand it because the license goes with the motherboard with the MS3 and with the Microsquirt module with the DIYPNP.

If Bowling and Grippo would license the MS3 daughterboard like a Microsquirt then we'd be free to plug it into things like DIYPNPs.

Or something like that. That's just the understanding that I've gathered over the years and I could be mixed up.

Actually the solution to that exists and is called the MS3-Pro Module.

Cost of a MS3-Pro module with the bits to make it plug and play would approach the cost of the MSPNP-Pro.

Confusing post is confusing. You just asked for a MS3 based, DIY solution for your car so you could set it up as you see fit. The MS3-Pro Module is the answer to what you're requesting. As a DIY type project, pretty much any application is supported.

Ben, that sounds great. Can you provide a MS3Pro module with DIYPNP metal box with the 76 pin connector/breadboard?

edit: just scrolled up and saw this is a product announcement thread. Ignore post suggestion other avenues. Time for me to go back to the Drunken Debauchery thread.
