Default New PalmOS Logging Application

I just put the finishing touches on the first release of my new PalmOS Megasquirt logging application. It's pretty limited at the moment, but hopefully it'll be useful to someone in it's current state. Right now it only works with PalmOS 4 devices with SD cards, and I think it only works on MS2/Extra firmware.

I can say the following for sure:
- It doesn't have any annoying nag screens
- It works with my DIYPNP and the MS2/Extra 3.1.1 firmware
- It logs directly to an SD card instead of having to mess with serial downloads

I have a Google Code project set up where you can download the application, get the source code, and submit issues or feature requests. You can get to it here:

It logs everything in the real-time data packets. If it's visible in a log file from TunerStudio is should be visible in a log from the PalmOS application.

You don't need to worry about USB-serial converters, the old Palm devices have an actual serial port built in. You do need a null modem adapter (less thn $3 from Monoprice) and a Palm "Universal Connector" to serial cable (or cradle), though. That cable seems to be much harder to come across than a compatible Palm, though. The only supplier I've found that sells them has been agonizingly slow shipping to me so I haven't been able to check out a non-OEM cable. If the cable becomes a problem I may see what it takes to convert the much more common Universal Connector to USB cable to serial.

Before you buy anything check out this page on the wiki about supported hardware:

Sure, there's not a lot to show, though. The interface is pretty simple since all you can do right now is log to a memory card. These are the shots from the emulator I'm using to write the manual.

Nice stuff, looking around for a palm to get my hands.
Are you thinking about making some of the data live viewable from the palm so it could also be used as part the dash?

Eventually, yes. The emphasis has been on logging so far just because it's what I've needed lately while autocrossing. I'm definitely going to be adding the ability to view data live coming off the Megasquirt, though.
