First day at the track/ auto-tuning MS3
I've been tooling around with Auto-tune running the fuel & spark maps sent over with the module. It's been adjusting away merrily and I adjusted some of the idle cells (they don't auto-tune) to get a reasonable idle (950-ish).
I'm headed up to Lime Rock Park for TT on Saturday, this will be my first time out with the MS3. Should I take it easy and auto-tune for the first session? I'm sure I haven't been in that load/ rpm for an extended period during my street driving. Besides, I only have about 2hrs of run time on MS with Autotune. Should I change any of the auto tune parameters so it makes the changes more quickly?
If autotune constantly edits the tables and writes to the module, why would I not run it at all times?
Also, since I'm non-turbo, should I re-scale the tables to have 100 fuel load rather than 200?
I've been asking around for a local Dyno tuner to get this squared away correctly, but in the meantime, I've got events to run. Anybody have a steady-state dyno in the NJ/ NJ/ PA tri-state area?

Anyone have any tips for track VEAL procedures? Just leave it all alone?
Also, I've noticed an interesting thing:
Basic/ Load Settings--> Fan Control--> Allow Fan when Engine Off--> ON
...but the fan turns off with the key even though it's hot. Turn the key back on - fan comes on.
This unit is an off the shelf DIY AutoTune MS3/ MSX3 with a harness adapter by Brain in a 1990.
Do I need to change an input or add a wire?

Thanks Reverant - I don't know if I ever noticed if the car had power to the fan when it was off on the Stock ECU! If it did, can I just send constant power to the relay by modifying my harness adapter?
240- I met you at the last LRP when I was getting my license. I was in the white #617. It kinda sucks that the 1st time this year there's a few people in my Miata Challenge class, I'll be tuning.

yep. Serious. I have found no one in the area yet who has the dyno/ skills to tune this the right way yet. Admittedly, I've only emailed a handful of shops, but no response at all...
Explain why this will be dangerous to me - more dangerous than tuning it on the street.
I don't know, and have no experience here. That's why I asked you guys.
(forgot to mention car is 1.6 non-turbo)

Yeah I assumed that was a typo on his part. My over run settings are actually .5 tps and 28kpa and I still filter for tps < 1. Didn't know VEAL could take fractions in the filter and honestly I see no reason to mess with it anyway. Seems to be working great as is and I can still auto tune idle. ******* WIN.
I'm continually amazed at just how awesome TunerStudio is, never done any tuning like this before and it's a hell of a lot easier than I thought it would be. Granted these forums are full of mostly very helpful information, and the occasional wtf moment, and of course Reverant built me a kick *** ECU with a base map that started and idled better than stock. Of course that was all before I went in a screwed things up, but that's what makes it fun. Right?
