Default Gen 2 MSPNPs are ready to ship!

We've just released the Gen 2 MSPNP for '90-'95 Miatas! This one replaces the stock ECU with our own tunable MegaSquirt ECU, and gives you full control over your fuel map, timing tables, and more. Other features include support for low impedance injectors, boost control, 2 step rev limiter, a headphone jack for listening to a knock sensor, and more! Price is $799.

(OK, you guys probably already knew half of that. This is something of a boilerplate sales pitch.)

The full list of Gen 2 models includes 5 ECUs, covering 20 different models:

Put your sales hat on. Why should I upgrade my MSPNP9093?

Is the AC idle up feature implemented in hardware?

Here are some of the biggest advantages.

1. It has about 100 times more pulse width resolution, making precise injector control at idle a snap even with monster injectors.
2. Peak and hold injector drivers let you drop in low impedance injectors without worrying about electrical noise issues.
3. The headphone jack lets you listen for knock while you tune.
4. You can rewire your car for sequential injection, which will give a smoother idle and better response at light throttle.

Yes, we have our own hardware A/C idle up device on it. Doesn't talk to the processor at all.

Is is adjustable? Does it have an on/off delay?

Thanks!

Are the msq's compatible with diypnp. How about the idle up for a/c can it be added to the diypnp?

Adjustable yes, delay no. The idle up is instant and works well.

The MSPNP maps are close enough for use as DIYPNP basemaps--assuming that the user assigns I/O in the same manner we did, or they re-assign outputs to match their pinout. By why not just start with a DIYPNP basemap? You can use a software idle up with DIYPNP if you use the special firmware.

No timeline set as of now, but I would guess 2-3 months.

Yes, it has a specifically coded ITB load algorithm, as well as multiple other ways of blending strategies.

Sweet, thanks.

Try out the "ITB" mode, I think you'll really like it. It uses speed density under 80kPa (idle and very light cruise), then transitions to alphaN over 80kPa for better response.

Good luck with it, and let us know if you need anything.

How easy is it to add an external MAP sensor? I saw a huge improvement in my G35 w/Haltech when I switched from the internal MAP to and external (vacuum line went from ~4 feet to 3"). I won't ever run an internal MAP sensor ever again!

Does A/C idle control still work when ITB's are used?

Is the ITB mode available on the DIYPNP and what are the benefits of the MSPNP2 over the DIYPNP?

Yes, if running an MS2/Extra code variant that has it.

and what are the benefits of the MSPNP2 over the DIYPNP?
The biggest one is, of course, that MSPNP2s are fully assembled and ready to rock. We also slipped in a few add-ons, such as:

1. Real peak and hold injector outputs to drive low impedance injectors with minimal noise.
2. The A/C idle up feature.
3. A better knock circuit - you can set separate high and low RPM knock thresholds, and listen to the knock sensor with a built in headphone jack.

Only if your ITBs are fitted with an IAC valve.

It's doable if a bit less plug and play. You'd have to set an internal jumper for the external MAP mode and wire the MAP sensor to the stock MAF wiring, then calibrate it for your new MAP sensor.
