This is going to sound stupid, but where the heck is the A/C idle up settings on the MSPNP2 within TunerStudio? I have searched for a while now, and can't seem to find the map within the software. Got the car idling well, and running pretty good now at about 11psi but the A/C at idle just about kill it. I found this pic on here, but can't seem to find the setting from within TunerStudio.

That table is not available with the MSPNP2, it is only available on the Enhanced MS2 that I build.

Thanks for the reply. What are my options to help the cause then? I was under the impression that this new gen2 had this natively. Or is it just the A/C control, and not the idle up?

the MSPNP2 handles the a/c idle up function outside of software, iirc. Contact diyautotune.com for details.


please dont go reloading random firmware on it like aaronc7 has suggested.

The A/C idle up is an analog dial. It's hiding under the MAP hose in this picture.



Adjusting it will change how much extra current it runs through the IAC valve when the A/C is on.

My bad. Didn't realize mspnp2 needed its own separate firmware.

Edit: appears to be same firmware.... you could probably upgrade firmware if you wanted to be able to control it thru software. Still check with DIY.

The MSPNP Gen 2 uses the current stable firmware release (3.2.1), but there is no provision in it for bringing the A/C signal to the processor. You'd need to do a couple wiring changes to use the firmware based idle up.

The wiring changes are minor and easy for anyone to do with basic soldering skills. There are good docs on ms2/extra forum on all the firmwares that support software based idle up. This code is based on the later MS3 code and is now being supported by the ms2 developers.

Btw - Reverant is wrong is saying his kits are the only way to get this. Anyone with a ms2 (including Reverant built) can upgrade and get the better idle handling code in the later releases.

I stand by what I said. My Enhanced MS2 is the only Megasquirt that has the table posted above. Prove me wrong.

I would also ask that you do not tell people that have my Enhanced MS2 to switch to other firmware variants, when you don't know that doing this can cause them to lose half the features their ECU has.

Dimitris, is the source available for the Reverant variant? I know vanilla kits won't have all the hardware, but it's still cool to review.

The OP was asking generally how to get AC Idle up. You provided a post saying that your custom ECUs that you sell is the only way to get that table and by inference may lead people to think your kit is the only solution. The OP used a pic to reference the only thing he/she could find, and I took it that it was an example, and not limited to that as an answer. You took the opportunity to say only your kit offers the table, but you conveniently failed to mention that other solutions exist that can also solve the AC Idle Up for MS2/MS3.

As for telling people to upgrade ... As you don't openly publish anything about your kits, how would anyone know at all what they would loose or not.

Also, I never instructed anyone specifically that they must, just that they can. If they loose functionality then I guess they would need to assess that (and hopefully you've been clear about that when you built/sold them a kit??).

They could always roll back if they find they don't like it... unless of course you don't provide the custom firmware to your customers? In which case, I'd be worried about that!!

I specifically replied that the specific table quoted is only available on my own ECUs. Nothing more, nothing less.

I do provide the firmware if someone makes a booboo, in fact in most cases I perform the firmware upgrade myself as a free service, to make sure the upgrade goes smoothly.

yup. just did it, and it works like a charm! On a side note, what is the general consensus on electronic boost control, open loop or closed loop? I think the problem i am going to run into is not having a TPS to tell the system how to properly navigate the target maps. Any ideas? I will move this to another topic if needed.
