Works fine as long as you have a good serial cable. Some of the cheap ones don't go straight through on all liners, and especially pin 9 which is used to power the adapter. The Monoprice cables are working for me, though.

Installed Android 4.0 (ICS) on my HP Touchpad and loaded ShadowDash. Hopefully BT works with the Android port.

Never, you must spend all your money to help save the economy. At least thats what I keep telling myself.

Cool. I am not an expert on the construction of serial cables, so I wasn't 100% sure that would work. Of course you have to keep it under ~15 feet or so due to signal degradation, but that shouldn't be an issue in a Miata.

Reverant, you just need a Transformer

I will still probably get an SSD for my netbook and use that instead, but it is nice to know I have that option

Also I assume the BT link is encrypted so people can't literally hack into your car and **** up your tune, right?

FYI the serial cable can be quite a bit longer than 15 feet.

I was dreaming of something like this when I first saw info on shadow logger.

With this you could run a totally stock looking interior for daily no extra gauges to reveal anything.
Then run a small tablet/phone for gauges when you are driving serious, or dash mount and flip screen and have a sweet window HUD.

At the megameet in 2010 we hooked up a 50+ foot serial cable between an MS and a laptop and we had no problems with communication.

A cheap wifi tablet works just as well, and without the need for a data plan.

How does a Nexus 7 work for actually editing fuel/timing tables?

Ordered the adapter the other day, but didn't think about Bluetooth on the touchpad. Guess I'll find out for sure when it gets here.... could just get a nexus 7, though.

It does not work, as there is no editing of fuel or timing tables yet.
