Default some wire identification need to get the mega squirt sparking

hey lads need some help here. i can get my car running its wired for a mega squirt so im just trying to eliminate all possibilities of whats wrong
firstly what are theres 2 connectors i have highlighted?

2nd problem i took the engine ecu and all sensors etc from one car and put them into mine, mine is a 93 1.6 jap and they came from a 92 1.6 jap but 2 wires are different coloured and all mine have lil red bands on them and his dont. the cut plug is from the 92 car.why is his blue and yellow and mine blue and red?

If the top 1 is a single pin, that's just the O2 sensor. I can't see the top one very clearly unfortunately and I cannot see the bottom one at all. As for the differences in wires, I don't see anything that would be a cause for worry - the same gauges appear in the same slots from what I see, you just are seeing a bit of slightly different coloration on the wires themselves, which is nothing to worry about.

Ok I'm just trying to eliminate problems! Any ideas why it wouldn't be sparking ?

I can't see the connectors clearly, so it's impossible for me to do anything other than speculate, but if one of them are connected to the coils in some way, it would explain your problem.

The top one is definitely the O2 sensor, the bottom one is typically for some kind of sensor i.e. OPG. It shouldn't prevent starting.

Now, when you try to start, have you confirmed that you have fuel? Spark? You mentioned it not sparking, are you certain?

Your coils appear to be hooked up from what I can see in the picture you gave.

Yup, yellow is O2 gauge, other one is your oil pressure gauge. Well, the sender actually.

How have you verified you don't have spark? All plugs on the valve cover and you don't see spark on any of them? Don't test one or two, take them all out.

Also, did this engine run on the stock ECU and then you touched nothing but the ECU stuff? With all those wires unplugged, it almost seems like you swapped engines. In which case I'd suggest you check your timing, we've had a lot of them off by 180* lately.

i did swap and engine into it, i checked the spark of 3 and 4 took the plug out etc! i got 1 spark at the start then thats it i dont get any more!yes i have fuel its hooked up seperate.

after it would not start on the megasquirt i changed back the wires and refitted the oem ecu and it then turned over so i think everything is hooked up ok! just the megasquirt acting up

Okay, so does it not turn over with the megasquirt like you are implying? 'Cause if so, you've got an issue that's not particularly related to the megasquirt.

Did it run on MS prior to the engine swap?

So, it ran on MS prior to the swap, you proceeded to swap it, and now it doesn't run if I understand you correctly?

Did you make certain to completely swap all sensors from the old engine to the new one, and/or wire all new sensors in correctly as well as calibrate them for the MS?

sorry if im brief on my explanation . i bought 2 mx5,s 1 a drift car one a road car.when i bought the drift car the engine etc was already removed from it ,i then removed the engine from the road car and fitted the engine from the drift car along with all the sensors that was attached . only thing i kept in the road car was the loom which i had to switch 2 wires on the ecu plugs so i could run the megasquirt . so really all the parts have being together and running apart from my loom ! but i copied his loom like he said

You need to be posting in the Megasquirt forum about wiring bro.

It sounds like you goofed something up, and you need to give the MS people some serious detail to get it ungoofed.

Alright, moved to MS section.

We'll need lots more details on MS, car, engine, etc before helping too much.
