Default MS2 noob- why won't the car move?

So a friend of mine bought a turbo Miata. He's never tuned before, I haven't tuned anything in ages, and neither of us know a Megasquirt from a hole in the ground. It's a freshly rebuilt 1.8 with 650cc injectors, a turbo of some descriptions, a megasquirt2, and we're using TunerStudio. Right now the car idles and revs in neutral with no issues other than the idle being far too high (not really a concern at the moment). The problem is as soon as we put the car in first and start letting the clutch out the car leans out and stalls. If you give it a bit of gas it might start moving but then it leans out and might putt-putt a couple feet but then it dies. Is there anything obvious we could be missing? Some sort of 650cc base map? Could we just take a generic turbo basemap and scale up the fuel tables until it moves under its own power?

Take a datalog and post it here. Do you have a wideband?

Buy the registered version of TunerStudio and run VE Analyze Live.

If it's going lean, add fuel?

Post the tune. We can take a look.

Yes. There is a wideband.

I'll post screenshots of the tables when I get off work. I'll also try to get a log file if I can get my laptop to connect (windows 10 is being a douche).

As far as adding fuel: the AFRs are fine in neutral all through the rev range. Is it different enough when there's load on the car that a table that works in neutral would peg the wideband lean as soon as we put a load on the car?

Thanks.

I found and attached the tune. We have pretty much just been messing with the spark, timing, and fuel tables. Next to no clue what the other settings in the MS do and we are tragically bad at Googling.

Well you shouldn't have messed with the spark or timing tables. The base DIY ones are great. Revert back to them.

I have honestly no answer for that. I tried opening it as well and tunerstudio threw a fit. Doesn't matter right now because I'm having ANOTHER problem where the megasquirt is refusing to communicate with either of our laptops. We reflashed it and are still getting comm errors, even when making a new project. "Error reading data from *device* after 3 attempts. Error message returned: Could not process Comminstruction. Error written to log. Timeout after 101ms. requested timeout:100, Expected bytes, 1024, bytes read: 0"

No idea what log it's referencing, or if that would give us any more information. This Megasquirt2 has some number of mods that we were not given many details on by the previous owners and requires a custom firmware file thing in order to work at *all* with Tunerstudio. So far over our heads on this it's not even funny.

Ms2 can be a bit finicky. Mine would only communicate with 1 of my 5 ports. Keep running the test port mode. Try different ones. Also the cord you are using can ha e some effects. Lost of info about that. You also need the correct driver for the cord. Make sure you have all the recent updates on your computer.

we had a similar issue, car would die when trying to take off, turns out you need to tune Accel Enrichment when injector size changes
