squirtin your other vehicles?
ok, so who here is squirtin your other vehicles? you know, non miata related stuff. what vehicle, and what have you achieved with it?
I'm thinking of doing a piggy back set up on my bike hauler.(2k Chevy c3500 with 350 and 4l80e)
first because it gets **** mileage. about 12mpg especially with the ethanol loaded fuel around here and tends to get a little detonation when running it. regular (non ethanol) fuel gives me no problems and about 18 mpg, but is so hard to find legally any more. And the nearest track is a five hour drive that ain't gettin any shorter. fuel costs are starting to eat into my track day budget big time.
and second because I'd like to throw some boost at it with maybe a couple of t4s or maybe salvage something from the junk yard off of a cummins.

I'm familiar with the MS platform and how to tun it and can't justify two grand on software to reflash through the OBDII port. would be nice though to be able to use tunerstudio to reflash the factory ecu.

"diy autotune sells a lt1 MS prebuilt they might have some insight on controlling a metric chevy tranny for my money im gonna just retrograde the tranny to controlls to there 700r4 roots much simpler."
I breifly looked at that. Haven't had a chance to shoot an email off to Mat just yet. I'm just starting my research. Unfortunately I have the shitty TBI Vortec. doesn't seem to be much support for it, since it's not a popular performance platform. it's a good runner, but not in the same realm as the lt1.

I want to convert my 1950 ****** CJ-3A flathead 4 cylinder to fuel injection and use MS. Someday. Debating whether to do a multiport EFI or use throttle body FI from a chevy truck.

SBC is one of the most common MegaSquirted motors, and TBI is probably the most common SBC application. You might be able to lean the fuel out some, but the problem with TBI is that fuel isn't totally evenly distributed to all the cylinders. This results in a couple cylinders being leaner than the rest. So what you end up having to do is run most of the cylinders a tad rich to make sure that the leanest cylinders are ok.
If you're looking for the best economy improvement, you'd probably be best served converting to mulitport injection. To keep costs down, I think you could use an LT1 manifold, if you tweak it a bit to fit your distributor. Or there are aftermarket drop on manifolds like the Stealth Ram on DIYAutoTune.com Nova.
4L80E control is very possible, and there are several ways of doing it. If you're looking to build it yourself from a kit, you could go with a GPIO/MegaShift, or if you want something ready to go, you can load trans control code to a Microsquirt. Either will communicate over CAN with a MS2 or MS3.

I'm eventually going to put MS3x on my 69 charger. I think I can completely get rid of the distributor on the 440 by using a crank trigger and individual coil packs. There is a builder near me that will add fuel injection ports to each runner and make fuel rails if you already have a manifold for about $400. It will be sooooooooo nice not dealing with a carb.

Go for it, you can lean & stabilize your mixture for now.
But like Ben said, large MPG & power gains won't happen without MPFI. The closest thing I did to this
was converting a '91 Civic (1.5L SOHC 2-injector) to OBD-I MPFI using Crome (4x240cc injectors). It was fun in a sub-ton chassis.
I gained 30% more power after 1 hour of WB02 tuning.

this, is full of win. exactly what I was looking for. I definitely planned to go multi port. thanks that info landed me on all kinds of stuff. time for more research
