Question NA 94 MS3(3.57)+MS3x no start - help please

Hi dearest MS gurus,

I have a friend with a 94 MX-5 here in Germany, who can't get his newly set up MS3+MS3X running. The MS3 is a 3.57 board CKP goes through the Mainboard pin 24 and the CAM through the MS3X.

he has both signals - but he get's sync losses instantly - so the car doesn't start:

Here is a screenshot of the Composite log:

Any advice is appreciated...!

Just one more information - the sync lost reason is 38/39 = 4G63 - which doesn't help me...

(I will post the MSQ as soon as I get it from my colleague)

Could it be that his CAS is turned too much and the wrong timing affects the trigger? He couldn't get a got timing light reading - so he wasn't able the check the trigger angle

Here is the MSQ:

I wasn't aware you could run full sequential on NA mode (4G63) alone, even with the CKP and CMP signals split.

This should be running with the MS3X board...

Any chance he has the main board set up to trigger off the wrong edge? How was the main board set up?

@Matt - what should be set on a 3.57 board specificly (is there something that specifies the egde of the trigger?)

Just had another look at the MS3 documentation, the V3.57 board for the Miata CAS has to be set for VR circuit with a 1K pullup, correct? I have pictures of Philips board here, and there is no pullup on R57... This should be it then...?! And the J1 jumper sits on 5-6 not 3-4, as the docu states... Damn....

I think we are a big step further now...

Yes, a pullup can/should be installed at R57. The board should be setup exactly as described here:
Megasquirt-3 MS3 Ignition - 4G63 (Miata)

The ignition input capture is the setting for trigger edge. Below are good baseline settings.

The settings are correct, so I think just the board needs a little love...

Update - problem solved - was the wrong Jumper on J1 and the missing R57 pullup resistor
