You do not need a windows based laptop to go along side your mac. Apple offers a neat program called Bootcamp that will allow you to run XP or Vista on your Mac. It is what I use on my Macbook to tune with.

We need more info on your Mac. If you have an Intel Mac then you can boot between OSes. If you have a Power PC (G4, G5, etc) you're screwed unless you want to monkey around with Virtual PC or something and STILL probably have a hell of a time.
If you DO have an Intel Mac you're golden, but remember when you run Windows it's STILL Windows regardless of the hardware platform. Meaning you are then susceptible to the Windows ills of malware, viruses, etc. If you are going to connect to the Internet with Windows running be sure you have some sort of anti-virus running.

Bootcamp requires you to reboot from one OS to another. Since speed isn't an issue and this is your only use for it I suggest VMWare Player. It's free and can use any of your port inputs on the laptop. All it does is run other operating systems (Windows in this case) inside of your current one. It looks like a program to your computer and is fairly simple to install. Has wizards for most things too.
This way you don't have to mess around with partitioning or anything like that.

Direct hardware access for the OS is probably more reliable. In our case, the Serial to USB adaptors we have to use cause enough problems without introducing more.
In short, get a copy of XP and use Boot Camp and save yourself a lot of time and headache.
Here's a good step by step 'how-to':

WHY
Do people invite EVERYBODY to their thread with an ambiguous title just to be self-serving, then crap on the visitors when they point out the OBVIOUS.
You are wasting people's time because you are being selfish with your stupid title. You deserve thread crapping for that. I believe that was Hustler's point as well.
I don't give two buckets of warm hamster squeeze about a Mac problem.
