Default Whoops - Low-Z Injector grounded

Well, I messed up. I'm installing my MS3, and I'm using JBPerfs 2.0a peak and hold board for 750cc low impedance injectors. I got impatient and soldered in the tip122's before drilling the heatsink holds in the case, then had to reflow the solder to get the holes to line up. I got impatient/frustrated with aligning the screws and making sure they didn't ground out in the case, which resulted in..

(Please don't judge the whole of my soldering by these few joints)

Didn't notice until I smelt it / saw a little bit of smoke from the fuel rail. What do you think the chances are that I ruined the injector (hot to the touch, smoking slightly), and the rest are OK? I've replaced this tip122 already and will bench test before I hook it back up, and removed the injector to send it to Deatschworks for cleaning/testing..

I wouldn't trust it. Fuel injectors are critical - if one fails you're liable to lose an engine.

Looks like all you did waas ground the output. Clean the solder and move along.

The fuel injector itself was smoking?

If nothing else, it's entirely possible that while the injector hasn't completely failed, you may have damaged the insulation on the winding, possibly causing a few minor internal shorts and changing its characteristics relative to the other 3, and quite probably setting it up for an early failure.

Which wouldn't damage the TIP, but as Joe pointed out could have damaged the coil in the injector. I wouldn't run it.

If they're DW injectors, might be a good time to go to FIC or ID.

too many TLA's there I don't know - DW, FIC, ID ?

Might as well pull all 4 injectors for a cleaning and flow test..

Has DW gotten a bad reputation since the last time I was active on this board (~ 2 years ago)?

Guess I'll start looking up threads..
