How much can I push it with Meth?
Hi guys,
Had a run in with a close friend of mine in his bugeye JDM STI. He has around 450bhp and the cars were pretty much neck and neck right up until when we lifted at around 130 mph.
Problem is that since that happened he's been putting the boost up on his car and I fear he may creep away. Obviously this isn't acceptable to me
It's a 94 1.8 and at the moment I'm running a GTI-R T28 at 15psi with a spark map which is at 21 degrees under full boost at the redline.
I'm running a Devils Own kit with a 3GPH nozzle with a 50/50 water / meth mix. I'm targetting 11.0 AFR under full load.
How much are you guys pushing it with meth? Am I at the boundarys of timing already, or do you think the meth should allow me to advance it some more? I know this is a dangerous game, but this is literally a one night only thing where I have to show his STI the way home. It's a little like the Pusha / leatherface affair. lol.
The GTI-R turbo seems to be in its peak efficiency at around 17psi, so I'm also considering 2 psi more boost.

Do you use a knock sensor? If you do, I say go ahead and add more timing but watch for knock.
Also, post your timing map.
I run as much timing as you do and I don't have WI/meth set up right now.
You very likely have a few more degrees before you enter the MBT "zone".

I don't have a knock sensor at the moment, so feel like I'm playing with fire a little bit even though I might have loads of timing left on the table with the meth injection. AFR's are good and here is my spark table:

Uhhhhhh
You are running a shitload of timing from 3000-6300 RPM at 200kpa. I would try to run more up top but less down low.
Hats off to you for going ***** out but I cannot condone tuning without a knock sensor. They are only $80 on amazon darn it! Just hammer that bitch onto the block and hook up an amplifier and volt gauage and win.
