I know that a few people here have considered using their standalone engine management to try to control the pumps on the WI kits out there without much success and the Aquamist WI solenoid is $$$.

If you look at the parts list, there is a stainless steel, high speed WI solenoid for $127.25. Haven't looked into the specifics, but sounds similar to the Aquamist one. Might be promising in terms of WI that is controlled via an injection solenoid rather than a pump pulse. Basically, you'd need a high flow pump, methanol/water tank, and some odds/ends in terms of tubing/check valves, etc... Then control the solenoid via a PWM output?

Just a heads up to those considering it as I am planning on checking this out some more when I get the time.

We talked about this in a previous WI thread. I brought up the FJO solenoid and another one at one time, definitely a heck of alot cheaper than the aquamist part.

why don't you guys buy a "normal" Nitrous/Fuel Solenoid?

These are stainless steel too, can stand the pressure (Nitrous one is rated for 3000 psi) and they're much cheaper...

They use standard 1/8 or 1/4 NPT Fittings and there are modules sold for the purge solenoids (the one you use to relieve Nitrous from the car) to open/close them ultra rapidly to have a maschinegun soundeffect...

they work with 12V, they can open/close really fast so it should work?

I think the "fuel" solenoid from a nitrous kit would be better than the "nitrous" solenoid. Nitrous solenoids require more current to drive, which is ok if your standalone/piggyback has high current drivers. My AEM EMS does not so I have to use fuel solenoids, which have similar resistance to a standard saturated type fuel injector (~16 ohms). They should still be able to handle the pressure.

While I'm not sure if a fuel or nitrous solenoid would handle the environment, the FJO solenoid looks just like a nitrous-kit fuel solenoid. And I know you can get a fuel solenoid from me or Summit or whomever for around $65. MSD's solenoid for their water injection (for injecting corrosive salt water into exhaust of a jetski, again looks just like a fuel solenoid) is around $95.

Either way you'd have to use a PWM output, not a injector output due to limitations on frequency capability of the solenoid. Aquamist solenoid is the only one I know of that can handle the hertz of a fuel injector.

Delrin part # 7876K11 at McMaster.com. Works fine on my Forester. I've run M10 and 5,10,15 gph nozzles with it with no problem.

I'm using Buna as is the guy whose website I posted. He's been an advocate of 50/50 meth/water mix since 2002 running the Buna with no reported problems.

cool ill have to pick some off that up then it is shitty how few people rate stuff for methanol or even consider it's use. daul stage injection should be comming soon with that
