Default I'm looking for long neck tank ideas.

I have a hole in the top of my rear pax fender where the antenna used to go. I'd like to put some sort of 1 gallon plastic gas can back there with the neck sticking a bit out of that hole for easy filling. My trunk lid is held down with hood pins and it would be a pain to open it up every day to check water levels, etc. Anyone have some ideas for me?

You could get a marine deck fill fitting like this

and connect a rubber hose to some kind of plastic tank in the trunk.

That cap says waste, but they do come labled as WATER too.

marine fill caps fit flush and need a tool to open them. all you'd need is a screwdriver, but still, that should be enough security

Actually, that isn't a horrible idea. I'm sure I could get a plug of some sort to fit that hole. The only problem is that I want my tank on the other side of the trunk BUT I could run some tubing over to it. Your joke has given me some ideas <G> ...

only the rainwater part was a joke. I'd love to have a "one stop shop" for filling consumables like that. Popping the trunk sucks. Course I say this without functional WI....

since you are gutted why not just run a filler into the cabin? or have the stuff in the cabin where the passenger seat goes.

I want to keep the tank by the battery for weight distribution BUT I wouldn't have a problem filling from the passenger side. I still kind of like the thought of using that hole in the fender for something.

How about this; cut a hole in the deck just behind the passenger seat and run a tube to your WI tank? That way it is secure and done right very few would notice.

I haven't had a deck or a passenger seat for quite a while <G>.

So then think about it you are moving the mass further up towards the center of mass for the car and still offsetting your weight.

yeah that's another idea... put a custom tank in the tunnel and fill it behind your left shoulder with the door open. that's pretty easy too.

I've heard many opinions on this but most racers say that it is more important to corner weight vs move towards the center. At one point I thought of moving the battery to where the pax seat once was but they say that is the wrong way to distribute the weight.

Why if you have all the mass on center then your polar inertia will be very minimal and turning the car will be alot easier. Esp since you removed the stock seat. wich weighs 38 lbs or so according to SCC.

what if you bought another gas lid assembly...cut a whole in the passenger's side fender, and rigged up another release beside your gas lid release....then have your tube or whatever under that.....

That's a pretty good idea for my next car. I've never seen anyone do that and it would be pretty unique. This one, however, doesn't have a release or a gas lid. They are both long gone...
