Default WI, Tuning, and AFR's

What will I be seeing on my wideband (AEM Eugo) when injecting water alone, and with the over-the-counter washer fluid? Do you start at your normal AFR and then lean your fuel as you add water/meth? Or would you start a bit lean and then add your mix until the AFR shows your desired result? Hope these aren't dumb questions, but I want to do this right.

Uh dude just tune for 12.5-11.9 to 1 if you are higher boost say 15 psi tune more for 11.9 if you are low boost tune for 12.5 or a little less then adjust for what feels right. Just water you might run 12.5 up to 6-7 psi with washerfluid wich most of the time is 10% or so methanol at most you might be able to run 9-10 psi given correct fueling. WI and the lower ait's cuased by it increase the effeciency and detonation resistance of your motor so a leaner. ie 12.5 afr can be run and still make good power but your motor and its limitations head smoothness etc. Will determine just how far this can go for you. They where not stupid questions but the do show you are new to this and being cautiuos next time a power gaol or gaols and turbo info etc will help us to give you more relavent information. If i can be of any more help just lemme know post some more to be able to pm or my email is also accesible through my profile. GL man
Ahh i see you have a FFS with ecool in that case i would shoot for 12.3 at your current 10 or so psi and richen it until you don't get any return on torque, then play with the timming abit if you have it retarded. Be carefull to listen for detonation, and take it 1 drive at a time. Also in your case of having a working system i would check what the kit is doing stock for a baseline. Like i said lemme know if i can help some more Later.

Yah, I guess if you want general answers you ask general vague questions. So I will be stepping back from a115mm pulley @ 13psi to a 110mm pulley and ~11 lbs of boost. I can't touch the timing cuz the kit runs off the OEM ECU. (There is a timing card due for release soon). I know that I want to be in the 11.5-12 AFR neighborhood, but just didn't know where to start. For instance if, on average, I will be seeing a 1 point AFR gain @ 100lbs of pump with a 3gph nozzle is it a "true" AFR change therefore taking me from 12:1 down to 11:1, meaning I would need to lean the fuel back out 1 point to adjust, or do I need to change my perspective and goals to take the addition of water into account and let the reading on my AEM just look rich knowing that I have only added water?

nah i doubt you get a full point out of it if you run good at the 13 psi then runt hat i tought stock was 11 though. for the 13 definetly try 12.0 even. i meant pull it as needed or add it back in via stock ecu ie cas manipulation. so it's all good. you are gonna loose some umph lower than 11.5 to be sure. The AEM measures the amount of 02 in the stream not the amount of fuel and h20 wont show up on a lit sensor for **** trust me i have my fueling to where it is almost uneffected by the WI on it moves maybe .01 (with a 30% methanol mix) of an AFR. Like i said get a baseline adjust back to that and then tweak from there using the old *** dynomometer. and hopefully you have a secluded area or a real good radar detector or both just in case cuase that **** is gonna be fast BSFC lower number=more effecient and more power= fuel works better but AF stays the same via more complete burn

Perfect, that's just what I needed. The stock kit with a 105 pulley is seeing 8-9 psi. and ~190 whp. I was running that pulley with no ping. Stepped up to the 110 and got a bit of ping that was cured with Toluene. Then up to 115 and got ping high in the rev range Toluene or not. I got carried away on a demo run ignoring the rattle from the motor. Blaaaahh. I was never seeing leaner than 12:1 on the WB, so I don't know where the prob was.... maybe cyl. temp? or timing. I will start tuning with the 110 and if I can eliminate all ping on 91 octane @ 11.5-12 AFR with the wonders of water then I'll take the plunge with the 115mm again. I've gone to a 9:1 forged piston so that may help.

I think the heat is causing to high of a cylinder pressure in your case causing abit of predetonation since you have no ping sub 9 psi i would spray at say 6-7 psi upward and see if this helps. If you still get ping take it to 4 psi as you might be overshooting the spray with your spool, speed. if this works try to edge it up to a safe psi activation where you have no topend ping and the highest possible activation point where you make good power. the fuel is there lets see what this FFS can do also, are you running the stock 10btdc like me?

Yup stock 10*. On a 99-00 we can't touch the timing without modifying the CAS mount. As I said there is a timing card in the works and a few lucky beta testers have good things to say about the results. Man, If I can get to 225 whp I'd be more than happy.

you should be just fine on that with the 13psi pulley and a good flowing exhaust
