Default WI parts in hand... and help confirming other misc bits and pieces.

From the start I wanted to include a WI install in my build. It is a 2nd part of the build process though... or was. Since the car survived one track day and has one coming up in 2 weeks... I figured its time to start looking into actually building my WI setup.

Below (if you feel like reading/helping), is what I'm planning, the parts that I already have (please comment on good/bad).. what I think I need...

Here goes:

I'm planning on running a dual water tank setup. A main tank (Feed), probably in the trunk as the main water source. A second tank (Surge) will either be back there also, or in the engine bay (possibly under dash or inside wiper cowl). This second tank will be the surge tank basically. I'll be running 2 reed switches in the 2nd tank, one that detects if the tank drops low, and activates the motor for the Feed tank... thus refilling. The other is the low switch and it will either switch maps on my MS install or cut out the EBC.

I'm thinking cutting out the EBC might be simplest, as the WI will be more usefull to me under higher boost levels that the current 10psi.

Here is what I have parts wise so far...
Braided SS line (decent length to run from trunk to motor, overkill for WI use i'm sure), probably will be my Feed tank to Surge tank line... or i'll sell it or whatever (this is a "have" list afterall)
2 SHURflo pumps (p/n- 8009-543-236) ( http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...6970_9414_9414) - rated at max amps 7.0, 12v, 60psi cutoff. 30psi gets 1.47gpm, 40psi gets 1.41gpm, 50psi gets 1.36gpm.
2 ECI valves - (p/n: 664-2406) - MOPD: 250psi (also www.ecivalves.com - old site, 022404 is stamped on it also.

These parts came from someone elses WI setup... So one pump and valve are used. I swear at one point I had found more info on the valve... but damned if i can now. I had found it referenced with someone's grand national wi/meth kit.

Anyways... things needed...
Containers - I'll find something generic to use... filleable and mountable
reed switches - mcmaster carr... looking at part # 46515K45
inline pressure switch to use instead of lower reed switch...???
jets - for ... I dunno... 15psi of gt28rs fun on a stock 1.6L....

I'm open to all thoughts/ideas etc.... Ideally I'm going to wire in leds and a main panel to monitor the setup. Something that has leds indicating pump activations, reed switch trips etc....

Bring it on

All of this sounds very familiar.

Not sure if you've already read my writeups, but they describe in fair detail how to do a twin-tank system with auto-refill, dashboard status indicator, and EBC bypass failsafe:

If using braided stainless hose, I'd be sure to check that whatever hose you use is rated for Methanol. The rubber stuff probably isn't. You'll also need to use all stainless hose ends.

Truthfully, the semi-rigid plastic that DO and others ship with their kits works pretty darn well, particularly with the press-fit connectors that they like to use. For the few sections in my system where I needed more flexibility and the ability to adapt to barb fittings (on the low pressure side) I used silicone vacuum hose.

Yah, your setup is basically what keeps pushing me to get mine done at some point. It has all the features I had thought would be ideal.

SS line is abit overkill but plz make sure it is meth safe. You will want 100 psi capable pumps as all of the nozzles ont he market are flowed and designed for 70+ psi and a lower psi rating will give you a less then optimal flow and spray patern. The fill pump can be a rather low psi this works fine. GL man i hope this helps
