FS: Garrett GT2554R or GT25R
Hello,
I am selling a used genuine Garrett ball-bearing GT2554R / GT25R turbo. It was originally from a Mazdaspeed Protege (OEM) and has approx. 50,000 miles under it's belt. It still operated as if it was new before it was removed and replaced with a GT2860RS. It ran a maximum of around 15psi for a few months, but 90% of the time was ran at stock boost around 7 psi.
The compressor and turbine wheels are in great shape with no major nicks or deterioration. As far as shaft play is concerned it has what I believe to be typical ball-bearing turbo play. I am able to move the shaft axially back and forth maybe .5mm or less. I am not sure exactly how much but it is just enough to feel with your fingers and hear if you really try to move it. The blades do not contact the housing and the turbo spins freely. I am able to spin it (while oiled of course) and it spins for a second or two from flicking it with my finger.
One of the bolts on the turbine housing has broken off, and another may need replacing. You will be able to see from the pictures that it *may* have a blown oil seal in the compressor as it appears there is oil residue on the blades and past the blades when looking into it. Because of this, and the fact that I haven't ran it on my vehicle to be 100% sure, I am selling it at a very low price AS-IS. $100 shipped (US lower 48 states).
Standard Garrett T25 4-bolt inlet and 5-bolt turbine housing with internal wastegate (no actuator included), and you will be able to see the specs from the pictures below. Even if it's ****** you can refresh it with a new center section CHRA.
Spec markings:
Outside of compressor housing: A/R .80 M24
Inside of compressor housing (outlet): .80
Outside of turbine housing: A/R .84

I will do that.
I am selling it as-is, but it didn't smoke and it produced boost fine up until it was removed to be replaced with a larger turbo. Run it and go from there.
You should not have to worry about a oil restricter as it has one from the factory, but if it smokes or anything like that it wouldn't hurt to throw one in for good measure. It is very easy to do and there is a lot of information on this forum in regards to the subject.
If you find out it does need a center section CHRA check out the links below. They are great deals and I am saving you a bunch of money on what they would normally charge for a core. If you need to go this route it would only cost the $70 plus what they are asking for a CHRA. This saves you a bunch of money compared to what a GT2554R is new, and you will essentially have a new turbo.
