Default FM Extraction Hood $450 you pick up San Antonio TX

This hood cost me $750 delivered but I never installed it. I'll sell it for $450 if you pick it up. I'm *very* unwilling to ship ('cause shipping can run $150!). I'm located in San Antonio, Texas.

Reason for selling? I have a '99 engine in an NA body; the intake manifold will not clear the hood vents without hacking the hood or seriously machining the intake manifold. Thanks to my experience, FM now has the caveat "It may not be compatible with other modifications such as engine swaps...".

If you provide your old undamaged NA hood, I'll knock another $50 off the cost....

nope they proved on fm if you read about it that it doesn't get wet, if i only lived closer, i would give you my hood, and if i get it shipped to Canada i would go broke...

I have an older CF extractor hood from FM. Fit without issue when I installed a 99 head and intake into my 96. Maybe yours is an "updated" version.

The intake manifold to hood vent interference is on the order of 1/2" to 3/4" on my car. I just can't bring myself to hack on the fiberglass vent and don't want to spend even more money having the fiberglass reworked after the hack job.

I'll post a photo of the back side this evening. It resembles the underside of the stock hood right down to the reinforcing braces. A beautiful piece of work which makes it even more frustrating for me that it won't fit my car.

****, I should have read the entire post before pm-ing. Lets see that pic, and can you possibly demonstrate where I'll have to hack in that pic?

Thanks.

I'm also curious if FM offered a return on the hood.

im quoting someone on this...
if you put a 1.8 in a 1.6 car, the motor sits slightly higher than a 1.8 car w/1.8 motor due to the motor mounts...so the hood should fit problem free on a 94+ which is what you have...NO?

and also quoting from someone else, as I haven't tried it myself yet, the Mazda Comp mounts are a bit shorter, allowing the motor to sit 1/2" lower than the standard mounts. Might be worth a shot ?
