What kind of power were you making? How efficient is the air to water cooler?

Have a great day,
Jared

I estimate that I was making 170-180whp at 7.5 psi, but that's only an estimate... I kept meaning to get it dyno'd but kept forgetting or not having enough time for it. I was pleased with the power it made though. More than enough to take care of business. Lol.

But in reality, I would probably say that a WAIC is less efficient than an air to air. For the kind of psi I was pushing though, it did the trick. If I were to have planned on pushing more than that then I would have upgraded to an FMIC for sure. I mean, it's a fairly small WAIC so it doesn't really achieve as awesome results as larger, more developed WAIC systems that are run in drag cars etc. I'm no expert on the water to air intercoolers though... I know air to airs much better. Lol

Hi there,

I drive a 2001 1.6.. Due to the HP, is this kit for a 1600 or a 1800 ?
What is the Mileage on the kit and do you have some pictures.

If so, please send them to: Simon_v_kasteren@live.nl

More info on that water to air intercooler setup. Do you have the pump, water rad, and ice box?

I've got the pump and water rad, but I'm not sure what you mean by ice box... Lol. I took everything off that the kit came with, so I'm sure I do have what you're referring to. Haha.

Ice box would have been something you would have added. Its a tank you keep the water in and add ice for the track.

What kind of blow off valve is that? If you're willing to sell separate, I need a recirculating BOV.

It's a VTF recirculating BOV, so it'll do the job for you

picture of crack on the manifold?

Where does the W to A inter cooler get its water supplies? Looks like it taps the radiator overflow.

Yep, you're correct, W/A IC gets it's supplies from the radiator overflow.

Here's the best pic I have of the crack, I can get a better one today after I get off work if you'd like. Crack is ID'd by the red circle.

Not an expert indeed. From an efficiency standpoint, water is a much better medium for heat exchange. But from a weight/space/complexity standpoint, air to air usually wins out.

Lol yeah, at least I admit it But yeah I agree, water is definitely a better medium as it has high specific heat, but for a small set up like what I was running it on, I wasn't really able to get an awesome set up where I could take advantage of all the pros of a water to air IC.

How does it sound; loud, quiet, etc? I did a little researching and can't find anything about VTF. I've never heard of it/them before. eBay? I'm interested, just want to know what I'm getting first.
