Default Ignition Upgrayedds, and lots of them!

Time to stop hoarding so I've got some ignition parts to move

Used GM LS2 Truck Coils + HHammerly bracket

$100/set. 2x sets SOLD!

First set:

Second set:

Markings on the coils:

These are genuine GM LS2 TRUCK coils, IIRC they were pulled from a flexfuel Tahoe. Coils and harness are obviously used. I gave the coils a quick wipe down but I didn't bother with the harnesses. No corrosion on the electrical connectors or HV output posts, it was more just dirt and grime than anything else. These are the big dog coils with the little heat sinks on the back of each unit. They made me buy both sets of coils so I bought 2 brackets from HHammerly and made up a pair of these things. Each set includes what you see in the image: 4x coils, stainless steel bracket and OEM GM harness. Here is what the bracket and coils look like when mounted:

Image is from Sixshooter and used with permission. Thanks Six!

The mounts are made from heavy duty stainless steel and should fit NA8 (94-97) and NB1 BP engines (99-00.) They will NOT fit with BP6D VVT (01-05) engines and I have no way to verify fitment on B6 1.6 (90-93) engines. You are also on your own for wiring and plugwires. These will not work with the stock ECU.

You can find more information on the truck coils here: https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo...-thread-82744/

DIY Toyota COPs harness

$60 SOLD!

Fits the majority of Toyota COPs out there, though I was using it with Toyota PN 90919-02244 coils. I built this myself with connectors are from Ballenger and it includes a 10,000µF 25v or 35v capacitor wired in for high current protection. Or whatever. No solder in this harness, everything was done with tube crimp connectors (if you worry about such things.) The harness is currently wired for WASTED SPARK with the triggers paired on 1-4 and 2-3. You'll have to stick a toner on it to figure it out but it should be simple enough. Blacks are grounds, reds are power, yellow and white are triggers. The small coil of wire is for an additional ground that I never set up.

You can read more about COPs in these threads:
https://www.miataturbo.net/useful-sa...writeup-12704/
https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo...p-thread-4756/

Fab9 COPs kit (no harness)

$190 OBO PRICE DROP! $175 shipped!

This is obviously NOT a plug and play kit. I ordered it from Fab9 without the wiring harness so I could roll my own. Depending on how you build the harness it can do either sequential or wasted/batch fire (like OEM), wiring instructions are included or can be found online. All the connectors, pins, weather seals are there so you won't need to run around trying to find parts. Not shown, but this WILL INCLUDE a 2x2 OEM harness plug so it can be plugged directly into the factory harness on an NB1 (99-00). Plug may fit other applications but its up to you to confirm. The included plug looks like this. It DOES include 1 set of 4 spark plugs. I've got IK22 and IK24 plugs so pick your temp and I'll include them with the kit.

Capacitor & Harness plug kit

$15/set, 2x sets One set sold, one left!

Each set includes a 10,000µF 25v 105° rated capacitor and a 2x2 harness plug. These are great if you are doing a DIY COPs harness or other such ignition shenanigans. I know the harness plugs work with the stock NB1 BP4W wiring harness (plugs in at the front of the head) but I cannot confirm fitment for other models.

I think that's all I've got for now? Prices do not include shipping but pretty much everything will fit in some size flatrate box, so assume $6~$12 for anywhere in the lower 48.

Thanks for looking!

If you decide to sell the bracket separately, my PM box awaits.

If someone wants a set of coils separately we can certainly work something out.

I'll take the Toyota COP harness and one of the plug kit (I'm assuming the harness has no connector. Can't open the picture on the mobile app).

Can you pm me your Paypal and shipping amount?

Thanks.

The LSX coil thread mentioned something about the flyin Miata bracket not working with a coolant reroute. Will the Hhammerly brackets work with a reroute?

I could do coil only, I've got a VVT so I would end up using Curly's method anyway.

Thanks for the heads up. Ya I was aware that this is not a 'useful right now' purchase but if the price is right then they can sit in a box for a few months while other pennies get saved.

I was literally under a house all day yesterday so I lost track of this thread. I'll try to answer here and then I'll get to the PMs. Sorry for being a slacker :P

Are the pics not working? It has a 1x6 weatherpack on the end, unfortunately the mating connector got tossed a while ago as it was part of another harness I sacrificed in the name of science. Weatherpacks are pretty easy to find on the interwebs, but I'd recommend replacing it anyway. You can probably come up with something much more compact and cleaner. Or just hardwire it into the existing harness.

Just as an FYI, I built the COPs harness to run to the back of the head where the factory coil harness connected so the connectors are numbered as such, and the harness may be a bit short if you are trying to connect it at the front of the head with the OEM style harness connector. You should have no problem flipping it just remember the labels I wrote on the connectors won't be correct and you may have to extend the harness to reach the OEM plug.

I'll let you know as soon as I sort out PMs

Yeah, but who still has a 1.6?

FM bracket mounts behind the head, this mounts on top of the valve cover (see mounted pic from Six)

That should aught to work. Let me get a PM to Schuyler and see if he still wants just the bracket and we'll see what we can do. I like what Curly did in that thread, it clears VVT and does not look like a complete mess, like some of the other brackets out there. I really really like both HHammerly ones I've got and the Singular ones, form AND function

Its too early for hate, I've not had enough coffee yet. There is actually nothing wrong with the 1.6 if that's what you've got to work with. Don't be so tetchy

HHammerly coil brackets are very sturdy and very precisely laser cut. People ask all the time where I got them. I can't recommend them enough.

If there is someone else that wants just coils I'd like just the bracket. Although if it comes down to it and i need to buy the coils too I guess you can never have too many spares. Although 8 spare coils seems excessive lol
