Default big churbo and a boost gauge

Brand new in box LC-1 with DB gauge. I believe it's blue, but I ordered a while back and will verify. Comes with everything shown, and all that would normally come new in box, as well as both stainless and mild bungs.

Sold

T3/T4 300-400hp eBay turbo. Comes with fittings, bolts and lines shown.

$100 shipped

That is a bargain on that turbo, especially with the line thrown in. I'd buy it but my almost five year old T3/T4 churbo is still doing fine!

If someone can definitively state that this churbo won't be a total dog on a stock motor-no forged anything- 220-ish WHP application I may be interested in it for the SAABata. Track car with limited street driving.

I planned on doing another SR20T25 which I feel would do a better job for me on my application, but I could be wrong. Someone speak up on this. Which would be the better choice? I haven't built the mani yet so T25 or T3 is irrelevant to me right now.

I honestly think you'd be fighting the surge limit while building boost, might see some boost shortly after 3K rpms, max boost maybe a little before 4K, and be shifting at the point you're finally getting into the meat of the "efficiency island" (~70%).

Ideal? You tell me. To quote Corky Bell:

The trade-offs of lag, boost threshold, heat, low-speed torque, and power are the variables in the decision process of matching the turbo to the requirements. To optimize the trade-offs, the requirements must be defined first.

From what I get from your build I think you'd much prefer something that moves well without revving too much. Something magical about a properly-sized turbo on a 220whp Miata(motor). It's already passed that 18wheeler as soon as you've thought it, it's already 2 blocks down the road of that F250 driver who dumped a cloud of diesel smoke as soon as he saw you pull out.

I apologize that I've recently sold two turbos just outside of your ideal range, but you will be happier staying in that range.

Define 'total dog'.

I can only say how it works on my car that sports a stock '96 motor with 220k miles on it. I enjoy daily driving it, towing things and such. I suggest running a 3" exhaust turbo to tip. The vids (link in my sig) are mostly at 12-13psi.

I know I'm the odd minority but I couldn't think of going any smaller. I hated the powerband on the last four tiny turbo cars I've owned.

I agree. IMO the "daily driving it" and autoX videos are strong testimony. Stein's biggest obstacle is the fact he drives a v8 Miata.

Umm, I've never driven it. Well, it's gone 4 miles at 1/4 throttle total. I phale. So, that really isn't a factor.

I did have a SR20T25 on my 99 and have two little turbos on my BMW 335i so I'm used to spool "right now". I'm probably going to stick with my T25 plan.

Those auto-x videos suck, but it appears that car moves like a stabbed rat anyway...

Hell, I'd buy the damn turbo if it had the right flange..

Gauge and turbo still available.

Negotiable on the gauge, but the turbo will cost too much to ship to come down on it.

Thanks.

I'm throwing in the eBay EWG that goes with the turbo...for free.

Will take $55 shipped for the gauge.
