Has anyone pushed these turbos to see power potential?

Un sure if this is a troll post pahahaha. Dyno graphs? Been paying a fair amount of attention on this. Haven't seen anything over 230 yet. I would love a cheap replacement to the msm setup that will maximize a rods only build. Keep leaning towards this setup.

I don't have a good dyno graph but I am definitely able to make 13psi by 3 grand in 4th gear and hold it to 6700 or so(maybe I should check logs from when Nigel was driving, )no problem going higher. Actually I am finally getting my closed loop working well enough that I don't hit overboost all the time, I set it at 205kpa so I wouldn't bend my stock rods, easily done IMHO with this kit. Even through the *** of my high flow cat. Passing the 5k mark on the MKturbo kit and still as responsive as ever
I changed my thermostat temp as well as IAT location and have been retuning when I have time. Pretty busy, and I am not sure when I can get on a dyno again, hopefully soon.
Too bad the group buy is over but it is still a bargain at $1600 if Lars will still do a catted system for that price. I am a very satisfied customer, thanks again for everything Lars!

Sonofthehill, are you on stock rods and pistons? I like the fact that this turbo has the ability to put 200ft/lbs before 4k rpm unlike the msm turbo but most importantly doesn't choke out on the top end. Msm turbos make a fairly large spike at 4k or a Lil after and quickly taper to 6500. It is noticeable while driving. Just curious if it will make power as high as 275-325whp. If it will then I am game for grabbing one if these kits when he starts stocking them.

It makes ~250 on a otherwise stock 1.6, so yeah, no prob.

Search google for mazda miata turbo dyno, it's the first result.

Not as far as I know. I was planning on it and then my built motor died. I think everyone who has purchased a setup so far has been on a stock motor.

Aside from my megasquirt, flow force injectors and this kit my car is bone stock with over 230k. I have not been in an msm so I can't compare but my car pulls hard until I let off the throttle. As stated in an earlier post, my tight *** don't tend to rev past 6500 cause I'm scared of breaking ****, so I really can't say.

What boost level is the 250 at? And what boost level has anyone (not necessarily a miata) used with this turbo? I know it was stated that this wouldn't be a good choice of a kit to upgrade off of but is there any turbo options that are a tad bigger that will fit and mount to the manifold? Down pipe altering would be fine by me.

Braineack ran the same turbo at 14-15psi for years on his 1.6 and was making around 240-250whp. I think if you turn up the boost to the 20psi range on a 1.8 the turbo should break 300whp easily. I was hoping to show that somewhat soon, broke motor killed that. I should be swapping in another built motor soon, but don't have an eta. I have a local friend who has a rods only 99 motor build. Once he gets around to bringing the car over and I get the setup built we will be testing on that one also.

Theoretically any turbo with a t3 flange should fit on the manifold. You will need to alter the down pipe, but you say that would be ok. I did not really plan for the setup to be used for large power builds. Mostly because if you are going with a built motor, you can realistically afford to get a baller setup from TSE, ARTech, FAb9, Begi, or FM.

That all sounds good to me. Everything you offer seems to be able to take big power if some one wanted. I have danced around how much power I want to make but realistically haven't made much progress to do much. This seems to have a bit better flow to carry the torque further out into the powerband over the msm turbo and be perfect for what I will be happy with. The different turbo question is just a reassurance that If I wanted more power then I could continue use of a good majority of test parts. Thank you! Looking forward to the 2nd quarter of 16 to purchase one if these kits!!

You can buy a spare turbo for $200 and it takes maybe an hour to change out anything that might wear assuming failure isn't because of FOD which, if so, you have bigger issues.

A few customers have taken it out on track. None of them are overly fast. If you are planning on tracking extensively then you need to save up and get a TSE, or Artech setup. My setups are not built for track use, nor will I warranty them for such.

I have been busy dealing with my blown motor, so not a huge amount of work has been done recently. Today I did spend some time out in the garage working on the 1.8 manifolds though. This coming weekend I drive up to MD to pick up midpipes. So the real work will start once I have those.
