Default Free* Flow Force Injectors PNP connectors and fuel rail spacers

After loads of feedback on my v1.0 fuel injector kits, I've put together a v2.0 kit. Along with a bunch of little tweaks, like the method of testing and matching flow rates (I'm now matching by 2ms pulse and wide open to get the best idle), throwing in dielectric grease, and some other stuff, I've upgraded the PNP connectors and am now including fuel rail spacers. Here is why:

PNP connectors: I've tried several different suppliers and people have had issues with all of them. Basically, there is a standard length pin used on the male side of all manner of connectors, but when it is used in the Denso male plug, the pins are too short and makes for a poor connection. Some MT.neters have gotten around this by removing the pins and adding dimples to make for a stronger contact. It's shitty to have to do that though, so I found a supplier that put longer pins in for me. Works like a charm.

Fuel rail spacers: The top hat that adapts the GT500 injector (Bosch EV14 with a 48mm body and a 14mm diameter top) to fit in place of a Denso (60mm body with a 11mm diameter top) necessarily increases the key measurement for these cars by about 2.5mm. When you install them and torque down the fuel rail it kinks to the side a bit. For the record, ID injectors do the exact same thing and nobody seems to care. I designed a perfectly sized fuel rail spacer that corrects this problem. It's a custom made anodized aluminum washer that snaps on to the fuel rail isolators (those little black plastic things that are super easy to drop into the engine bay) and spaces the fuel rail out by about 2.5mm. It makes the intake manifold a hair tight to get in place, but the fit is damn near perfect.

So, here's the free part: anyone who has ever bought a v1.0 set of Flow Force Injectors at full price ($299 for PNP or $289 for pigtail), either from my site flowforceinjectors.com, from Trackspeed Engineering, or from eBay or Amazon, you can have a set of fuel rail spacers and PNP connectors (if you got a PNP kit) for free including shipping to the lower 48. If you got one of the early discounted kits, then the upgrade is $20.

But wait, Nigel, you're crazy! That's like $50 worth of stuff you're giving away for free! Why for the love of god?

I know, I know. Basically, I'm making these kits mostly for fun, and it drives me crazy to think about people out there in the world with suboptimal products. You guys deserve the best!

How do I get mine?

[edit] Get your upgrade here: http://www.flowforceinjectors.com/pr...20-kit-upgrade

Happy boosting!

PS: thanks to Savington, shuiend, Sonofthehill, Gibbs, Twibs415, impulsive.ca, arrgh, aidandj, Schuyler and probably others I can't remember for giving me tons of useful feedback.

I never noticed the fuel rail spacer not being tall enough.

A question though, why not just turn new plastic spacers instead of making the aluminum spacer? Do you happen to have dimensions on the stock spacer, by chance?

I didn't know what material to use, and I've got a supplier that does a great job with the top hats so I figured aluminum spacers would be a good way to go.

The stock isolators are
13.07mm tall,
11.78mm diameter at the narrower parts,
19.81mm diameter at the wider part,
The wider part is 4.98mm tall and its centered with 4ish mm of narrower area on the top and bottom,
And it has a 8.66mm bore

Would a replacement piece be much better?

I'm sure the spacer you've made will work just as well as anything, I just don't want to bug you for more stuff.

I've got some black peek that ought to work really well and I usually have tooling prepped for parts pretty similar. I might make a few new plastic spacers that are taller, seems it'd be an easy and fast part to make.

I hate taking the fuel rail apart, so the dimensions are greatly appreciated!

Replacement is unnecessary. But nice if no extra cost.

Where are the stickers!!!!

Update: please checkout here to get your free upgrade: Miata v2.0 kit upgrade ? Flow Force Injectors

That will make it way easier for me to keep track of the upgrades and use my store's shipping system. It is now freer than ever - spacers are free for everyone because they only cost $1.20 to ship. Also, if you have currently having issues of any kind, the connectors are free for you too shipped to wherever you are in the world. Just use the coupon code shitsbroken.

Aidan - stickers are coming. Savington is helping me out with that after the printer I used previously gave me reason to go elsewhere.

Me neither, I suppose it is a bit tight but I still have no problem. Many happy miles on those injectors, thank you Nigel.

What if one were to come by a set of your injectors 2nd hand, and wanted this upgrade?

How much money would one need to send you?

Yeah, I never would have noticed either. A couple guys that spend a lot of time wrenching on miatas noticed, and Savington helped me get to the bottom of the matter with an engine on a stand.

Update - I've had lots of people send in requests for these upgrades, which means I'm running low on the connectors. I've got more coming in about 3 weeks. Spacers only requests will ship out immediately, as will orders marked urgent, but please only use the urgent option if your car isn't working and these will fix it, or if a 3-4 week wait would hold up other parts of your build. I'd love to keep the last few sets I have for people buying kits and people who need them urgently.

Thanks for understanding!

Nigel,

Very cool of you to make the spacers available at no cost!

I didn't order the connectors as I got pigtails that wire directly into the harness. I'm assuming the plug issue was only between the harness plugs and your plug and play connectors, right?

That's right. The EV14 side of the connector is great, it's just the Denso end that had issues. Your spacers went out in today's mail, so you'll probably get them Friday.
