buyer beware: Michael Slanovec
I have been taken by this guy for $1,030.00. I paid for an AEM EMS off the miata.net classified section (ad is now removed, go figure) and he never sent the money EMS. I spoke with him for about 2 weeks off and on through phone conversations and emails. I filed a paypal claim, but of course that was useless. He told me he lived in Florida, but a quick search tells me he is in Randolph, NJ. Anybody care to pay him a visit for me?
He sent me a link to this build thread saying it was his car: MX-5 Miata Forum - Few pics for the new setup.....
Now I haven't figured out how he did this yet, but when I PMed the "owner" of that build thread (aka the person who made the first post), I got a response along the lines of "I don't know what you're talking about" and the user name on that thread changed from "mikef85" to what it shows now "cptnsloni". I can't believe there are people out there who would do this. I must have talked to him for over an hour about the ecu, and turbo miata's in general. Little did I know....
His cell phone number is : 727-688-0002
His email address is: mslanovec@hotmail.com (initial contact) & mslanovec@yahoo.com (where he had me sent the payment)
He said that he is on here from time to time also, so hopefully someone knows him and can help me out. Any more information anyone might have would be greatly appreciated. NJ isn't that far from RI, I wouldn't mind taking a trip down there at all.

Everyone,
Disregard that my name is even mentioned in his post. I was not involved in this transaction in any way. This guy is an idiot.
That thread you linked has been alive longer then I have even had a miata. Actually, before I ever even planned on getting a miata....that AND it's isn't even my screen name you moron.
Don't drag my name through the dirt because you're wanting to get back at someone else.

And that build thread is not mikef85's. That ain't his car, not his setup, etc. And he's not in FL or NJ. How is he involved?
I can vouche for Mike as well. He FINANCED a flywheel and clutch from his old turbo setup. I gave him a down payment and then the rest a couple weeks later when I had enough to pay the purchasing price. When he had all his money he shipped everything out. He didn't have to do that. But he did. I've bought stuff from him since then and always been a smooth transaction.

You're also going to have to be VERY SPECIFIC about how Paypal was "useless". Did you ever read my "Paypal Users" thread?
When you send money through Paypal, you specify in the NOTES a shipping timeline and mandantory tracking number to be sent to you. I usually give a guy 2 or 3 business days to get my **** in the mail. The instant the timeline is not met, you initiate a claim. Not 2 weeks later... especially for $1k dollars. And I do not **** around with trying to work it out with the guy... you get strung along and the longer it takes the worse it is for you... go straight to Dispute.
Here's my "How not to **** yourself with Paypal" thread:
https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/t21113/
You're also probably about 2 seconds from getting bannished, so you need to unfuck your story quick and probably do a little back-pedaling. I for one am all ears.

I bought it, sent the money, and he never shipped the ems. So if mikef85 truely isn't Michael Slanovec, and that isn't your email then you have my sincere apology. I must have clicked the wrong name in my anger. I can post the email I was sent with the link in it also if anyone cares.
I'm not trying to start a war here, I just want my money back. I've been on this forum and have a build thread, and built up a small reputation for selling stuff- I'm not trying to bring anyone down who doesn't deserve it. I am trying to get my facts straight because I plan on filing a complaint with the police so I'd hate to point fingers at the wrong person.

I don't have an account with switchboard, so it won't give out out-of-state information or something like that.
