11lb Fiberglass/Carbon Hardtop
This is the FRP/Carbon hardtop skin that has been on Theseus for the last 2 years. It was originally built for someone else as an aborted carbon project.
Pros:
-Extremely light. 11lb
-Cheap. Asking price is$500 $350.
Cons:
-Ugly. Like, wicked ugly. It's mostly fiberglass with a single, poorly-applied layer of carbon fiber on the top. Not unsalvageable, but if you want it to look good, you're going to need to spend some time trimming the edges and filling some gaps in the resin on the carbon.
-Flimsy. Once it's mounted to the car at 4 points it's stiff, but it will flex and twist when it's off the car. You'll need to brace it in the center at the leading edge to prevent that leading edge from lifting up at speed as well.
-Did I mention ugly?
-No provisions to mount glass or plastic in the rear window
-No provisions for rear mounts (I used zip-ties to keep it from wiggling)
-No provisions for standard mounts - you'll need to epoxy or bolt-in your own mounting solution
This would be a great top for someone building a budget HPDE car or a budget race car, or someone who's willing to put in the time/effort to make the top look pretty. I never had the time.
Asking price is $350. The price reflects the quality of the top. It is light and cheap and nothing else. Feel free to lowball me, but don't be offended if I don't reply. Local pick-up is vastly preferred. I can build a small crate, but expect to spend $500 to ship it anywhere.
