Default FOR RENT- Fender roller and heat gun

Since these are a one time use only, I figured I'd offer mine for rent to help keep baseball bats from rolling your fenders.

Its an Eastwood fender roller and HF heat gun.

The price to rent weekly is 60 dollars plus actual shipping both ways. Paying MT Members get 10 dollars off. Deposit is 250 dollars, and shipping with insurance generally runs around 25-30 each direction.

Price for rental is firm. I'm just trying to recoup some of the damages with the tool purchases, and if this goes well, I'll think about renting other 1 time use expensive items. I ship using insurance, but I don't care how you ship back to me. The 250 deposit is MY insurance, so just keep that in mind when your at the counter of your favorite shipping company

I might do this. I wasn't going to because I'm lazy. How hard is this for someone that has never done it? Time involved?

I've not personally done it yet (I did, but it was a 10 minute job on a messed up fender to get the tire from hitting it), but they say about an hour per until you get your bearings about it. The key is taking your time and keeping the paint hot so it doesn't crack. Its boxed up and ready to ship.

How much does this stuff cost to buy usually? How much of a deal is it?

$269 all over the web. Looks to me like you could kludge something up for about 20 bucks to do the job if you didn't have to do more than a couple.

I have around 300 into it

I felt it was a great deal for both parties. It gives one time users a chance to use the right tool for the job, and it helps offset the price of the tools for me. If this works out, I might offer corner weight scales up next. More then my addiction for cars is my addiction for more tools. This just makes a better excuse for me to buy them then my current "they might come in handy" line I've been using all these years for the 15k+ in tools we've gathered

I may do this in a few months. The 250$ deposit kind of turns me off though (I understand why you want it).

Do you offer a better solution? Say I make it a 50 dollar deposit and its never returned. In effect, I just sold a 300 dollar setup for 100 dollars. When you rent a hotel room, they'll put a decent lien on your credit card with or without you knowing it. Its the same concept, but in the little man world. Unlike them, I have no hidden fees.

I got it... I said I understand why lol

But what stops you from not returning my $250 after I ship it back... where is my insurance? Maybe you want to keep your rep so you wouldn't scam someone... well same here. Not saying there is neccessarily a better solution, just saying either the buyer or seller is going to be vulnerable, so why not share risk? Now if you were to make it $150, the risk is equal. Or keep it at $250, you might lose some potential renters, but your *** is covered. Or maybe lower the deposit for members with good feedback?

For the record I think it's a good thing for the community to do something like this, a lot of people will only do it once, and this will save them money. But people that are short on cash might not have $250 to be tied up for a week or two.

I have 100+ good transactions between the different forums I'm on, and am a long standing member on most. I've had to eat a 450 dollar nitrous kit, along with a few other things in years past to keep my name good, so keeping the 250 and losing my rep is just not worth it. You do that once, and you better just start over in the forum world, as word travels fast, and for good reason

If I lose people because of the deposit, so be it. If you don't have 250 sitting hidden in a corner somewhere with a modded car, your in the wrong anyway.

i was told an hour per wheel well and the rears are hella hard. i bolted up the roller and did each in no more then 10min and the rears where super easy. i have an nb and didn't use a heat gun, the paint only cracked under the fender and no where you can see with out pulling a wheel off.

As a precaution, I would tape the fender off and shoot the inner fender to keep it from rusting. I don't know how bad it is down in your area, but when they say this is the rust belt..... THEY MEAN IT!
