My local friend Chris (dogits) updated his gen1 Enhanced MS2 to the latest Enhanced MS2 two weeks ago (he's my high-HP test mule) and put it to the test this weekend on the dragstrip. Best time was 12.5, top exit speed was 197km/h (123MPH).

Its a 99 1.6, Precision 5431 turbo, water/meth injection, Enhanced MS2, Toyo R888 225/50/15 on the rear. Boost ranged from 26 to 19psi due to lack of traction (just look at the track surface). Estimated horsepower is ~420. Tuned by yours truly.

Launch control was used to try and get some traction on the first few feet but it was hopeless. There was just no traction at all, and despite Chris' attempts, a sub-12 time wasn't possible on this surface (he was spinning in 3rd gear).

Very nice. 123mph trap is good for low 11's if he would hook up.

Does this have boost by gear?

Can't wait to get home and see the vids.

His unit does have boost by gear but we didn't use it as the gearbox gave up after tuning closed loop boost and only had 5 days to fix the broken gearbox (the output shaft was twisted by a good .5").

Guess those rx7 gearboxes aren't as strong as people think they are.

This gearbox has been put through hell - constant full boost launches from standing, countless races, you name it. I've actually snapped one on a car I've tuned (RX-8 with RX-7 13BT and gearbox) - ~470rwhp.

One is a 2.5L with the big APS kit. The other is a 2.2L stroker with a GT3582.
