Default Fan and ecu issues.

So the regular ms2 extra firmware on my ms labs ms2 enhanced 01-05 miata ecu (sn:10224) doesn't want to control everything properly. The biggest issue I'm having at the moment is getting the fan to stay on. It kicks on and off non stop all the time, almost like it's responding to an afr setpoint with 0 hysteria but I may just be going crazy at this point. What output would control that? It looks like it's wired back to pin 1 on the second ecu connector. I don't have a fan settings option in my tunerstudio either.

Posting a tune file may help. Don't MS labs ecus normally use special firmware?

Yeah, they do... Don't see how a tune file helps. There's one in my other post.

I rewired it so it's on all the time and replaced my alt with an na one getting tired of hacking things up to bandaid a firmware issue. Wish he'd at least tell me he lost it or something.

did you not check the programmable outputs for the output the fan is on?

What do you mean? It was working before but after I replaced the daughter board I haven't been able to get the firmware for that ecu and nothing has been working right. I tried turning on the unused outputs that I have listed in this Gui but none of them did anything. Do you happen to know if his ms2e is wired differently than normal? Is there a setting somewhere to gain access to the fan control options in the Gui?

Usually with MS2 firmware (at least the standard one) you turn on the fan with one of the programmable outputs. There is no specific fan control setting as such.

He seems to never want to give his proprietary code out, so will only give you links to the generic MS2 code. I have emailed him multiple times and all he does is give the link to the 3.3.0e code and not whatever special one he made for the advanced units.

That is his code...

But why did you need it from him anyway? It's linked to your ts project.

Iirc those advanced units, he had fan control built into the logic of his exhanced unit thing. Changing the temp required moving shunts inside.

The code that I have my original logs say that it was a 3.3.0e2 variant. Has only given me a 3.3.0e variant without the other number

All started with communication between him and myself I had asked if I was able to install a mapdaddy 4 bar sensor and get barometric correction. He said yes, I changed it out. put everything back together, change map setting, still working perfectly, except but no barometric correction.

I have had the ECU installed and it has been runnign great for the past few months other then I think I messed up when I ordered it.

My question is that if I were to remove the current MAP sensor and replace it with this:
MapDaddy 4 Bar MAP Sensor with Barometric Correction

and with a wire running from it to JS5 as see in this picture (yellow wire)
http://www.miataturbo.net/attachment...206_010853-jpg

I should be able to activate and set up barometric correction as well? Or is your custom code not set up to allow that?

When I ordered it I did not think that I was going to be living in an area with 2000-3000 ftt altitude changes by driving 30 minutes so i seem to have to turn the car on and then off to get it to reset the base air pressure.

Yes you can install that sensor, no issues with doing that.

Communication a short while later, they then flip flop and say that I cannot use it, and need a new sensor that needs to be connected a different way, and the mapdaddy with the two on it cannot be used.

Thread where that was discussed:
https://www.miataturbo.net/megasquir...working-80412/

That's not going to work as both JS4 and JS5 are used internally. The expansion board inside the ECU (version 4.6+) has provision to solder a baro sensor on it.

The catch is that it must be a 1-bar sensor - the MPXH6115A6U.
Change it back to original 2 bar map sensor because from what I understood, the space where that is is where this new other sensor needs to be in as well, but during reassembly, had damaged a pin on the cpu that holds firmware and had to replace it. Since then has only sent zip files that say that the 3.3.0e2 code is included on the zip file, but only had a pdf that has instructions that point at stuff that is not there, and does not reply to emails. The 3.3.0e2 files just threw errors when trying to burn onto the base 3.3.0e code.

Yeah, that is where the frustration is, as can never seem to get a hold of him, and keep seeing forums posts with the same.
