Default MSPNP9093 use on 1.8 swap

Looked around and couldn't find anything on this. I recently blew up my 1.6 (kinda had it coming running E85 and 18psi on stock internals, but was wanting to put in a 1.8 anyway, and now i have justification, LOL). Anyway, i have a MSPNP for my '92. I have found a couple '96 and '97 engines around town that i can swap in there. I already have the FM kit for it, but recently found an '01 engine in great shape for about the same price, so I ask, Will my MS be able to control/tune the VVT that the head has with reasonable ease? I am hoping to drop this 1.8 in, and still utilize my MS, ID1000's, turbo, etc. If it will be easier to go with a 94-95 or 96-97, please advise. On a much exhausted side note, i wanted to raise the question again about the limits of the NA 5speed tranny. i got off the dyno at about 300ft/lbs and 290hp before this 'ol 1.6 blew its rods. I already have a torsen from a '96 in this '92 so i got that going for me. But while i am at it, would it be worth putting in a 6speed from a '99+? Ideally, i'd like to keep the 5speed, as it has a taller final gear, but if i am pushing 350ft/lbs with this new 1.8, am i "really" in danger of ripping that 5speed to pieces?

The MSPNP will not run the VVT head, but you can add a VVTuner to get this function.

So i am about to grab an '02 motor, and wanted to ask everyone to make sure this will work. I currently have the stock 5spd and an MSPNP2 for the 90-93. Can i drop in an '02 motor and just not utilize the VVT features until i tune it with the addon VVTuner hardware? Basically asking, will an '02 fit and connect everything it needs, only my MSPNP2 wont be able to take advantage of the VVT head? Or will it not run at all without the VVTuner and anything else i may need?

You'll get it in plenty of time before your built motor that you haven't even picked up the block for yet will be ready to run.

were you ever able to figure this out? I also have a 90-97 1.6L MSPNP (at least, that's what the sticker on the case says...) that I'm planning on running on a USDM 95 1.8. Will be ditching the MAF and running speed density.

WTF?

You either have a 9093 mspnp for a 1.6 or a 9497 mspnp for a 1.8.

Is the case white or black?

Yeah, that was my reaction when I saw the sticker (I'll take a pic of it when I get home). Guessing it could be for a euro/japan model as they had the 1.6 throughout?

Anyway, the case is a black color- I'll take some pictures of it when I get home.

That's a 2nd generation MSPNP:

Vs. the first generation:

Although they should still work for either the 90-93 1.6 or 94-97 1.8.
