That is the more common use but they are both technically correct.

I assumed the standard S1 was only for 1.6 w/AFPR etc... but 260whp is a pipe dream even on a 2860 without ECU.

The 1.8HD ZM2-HDSS is rated for 233tq, or about 210wtq? I know ACT underrates thier products a little, but you'd probably be at around 220-230wtq at 260whp. It would probably hold on the street, but it'd be on the ragged edge on the track and the longevity would suffer.

I'd think at that power to be safe, either an XTorganic or upgrade the HD to the 6puck sprung to hold 300wtq no problem.

I have no experience with ACT, only what I read and what the numbers say, but 260whp on a 1.8HDss is just too close a margin as far as the numbers read not to get a little more clamping for a little more money.

Remember that clutch ratings aren't at the wheel, they are at the crank. So add (or remove) about 25hp.

And clutches aren't rated in hp... they're rated in torque. All the numbers in my above post are labled accurately.

And I've changed my mind about my Spec Clutch. You can do a SamNavy title search for clutch and see the problems I had.

At this point, I'm going to chalk up my clutch problems to improper install, or some other random factor. I was meticulous when I installed it the first time since it was my first one, but somehow the PP was seated unevenly on the disc and causing a hot-spot... placing all the clamping force on one spot on the disc. Since my motor/clutch swap, torquing all bolts in an opposing pattern at 5lb increments, tapping the PP with a rubber malleet as I went to ensure even seating, I've had no problems at all with my Spec. It feels great, clamps hard, slips well, and I'm throwing 15wtq more on it than last time. When I get my timing table sorted out, I'm sure there'll be another 15wtq it will hold.

I run the SpecStgII 1.6 and paid $310 for it. Right now I am pleased. My long-term results will be made known to you in another 10k miles or so.

I have 15,000 miles of transmission-busting shifts, 5000rpm autocross launches, and burnouts on my ACT HD with a sprung 6-puck disc and I wouldn't recommend anything else. Under $400 shipped from Carolina Clutch. It will still bark the 225/45 NT-01s on a hard 1-2.

The ACT XT street disc has an awesome feel and is bulletproof. The 1.8 HD will supposedly hold a ton of torque too, but there was a batch of the street discs that made an awful squawking sound when engaged... forever. Don't **** the dog like I did by buying a 1.8 HD on eBay.

OR XT + street disc.


You have a choice between rough engagement, or hard pedal feel. This is the 1.8L clutches.

ACT or nothing.

Edit: I am personally going with the HD + 6puck, as I don't see myself making 300+ whp in the future, if you do, go with the XT and later go with a 6 puck when the power goals require it.
