hows it going,
i drive a 90 na, was thinking going with a 1.8 swap until i found a greddy kit dirt cheap. So i decided to go ahead and boost it. The owner was parting out the car due to a rear end accident and didnt like the looks of how much damage the miata took. Then i went ahead and picked up the kit for now just piecing up my own ic kit. Heading to the junker for an intercooler from a mustang or volvo which ever i can find, then weld and bend my own pipes.
Im also waiting for a repsonse from mazdaracing for their dp, if not try to work with the greddy by cutting the flange and build my own. I was noticing that it has the vortech fmu and was thinking about starting with a 5-6 psi then till end of the yr upgrade my fuel pump and injectors. But for the meantime will it be a direct bolt on and no tuning required?
The owner told me that he never took the fmu apart so i guess it has its stock disk. Ive been looking into bipes so till payday ill be ordering one. Boost gauge ive picked one up from checkers. Just for now dont know whats the difference from an ordinary a/f ratio gauge than aem's eugo?
Also the reason i ask about tuning is that where ever i go for tuning here at vegas, cost from 1500 to 2000 just to tune and use dyno and man hours as they all say.
sorry for the long, post im still new to boosting and want to have more fun with my na. thanks for reading my post

while you're at the junkyard you should pick up some rx7 rotors for your top end.
$1500 - $2000 to tune? You can't be serious.

Cant you ruin the motor by running rich?

If you get a Vortech disc set and install an 8:1, 6:1, or even a 4:1 with 305inj, you could get as much as 8-9 psi out of it. Having gone through that though, I wouldn't recommend it. You didn't mention what your power goals will eventually be or if you are eventually going with a full standalone, or some combination of band-aids. I imagine that your fuel management system will dtermine a lot of what your tuning cost will be.
If I were in Vegas and someone told me 1500-2000 for tuning without asking me what system I had, I'd think that they were hiring strippers to give me lap dances while the tuner dynos my car.

If your going to go the junkyard intercooler route, I have a full setup for sale. I'm flexible on price, I'm looking to get rid of it.

Ok so if installing a BOV it cause richness between shifts and leaks at idle. Richness it is becuase the maf read a certain amount of air that went in the charge pipes, but not all goes to the throttle body due to some of it release through bov. So one thing to do is head into the HKS BOV SSQV right? to prevent leaks
but to prevent the richness you need to recycle the air. I noticed they have a bypass kit for the hks bov. If i have the bov and bypass installed would you still be able to hear the surge coming out of the BOV?
Sorry for so many questions im learning more and more everyday.
thanks Braineack for the sig, its helping me understand a bit more.

you can still hear it, but its MUCH quieter. Im using a dsm bov thats recirced, its actualy kind of loud, but nothing compared to vta. I dont have any experience with this, if you go to your local junk, find a bosch bov, and recirc it, I bet it will be quiet as ****.
also, my loud *** recirced bov makes less noise than my buddys supra with no bov.
