Smile Buying another club edition NC for 300+ whp, what clutch?

Hey guys,

Right now I'm working out the kinks to trade my 08 z06 (590 rwhp) for a 2015 mx5 club edition hard top (pearl white). I traded my old pearl white club edition (2013 model) for a 2013 corvette and I regret it. I've contacted begi regarding their NC S3 turbo system after looking at the moto-east setup I saw and I was impressed. I'm in san antonio so I'm blessed to be within range of corky and stephanie. My rwhp goals are somewhere in between 305-330 whp with a gtx2867r and I'm aware I'll need a beefy clutch and 800cc injectors along with a higher pressure fuel pump. My problem is picking a clutch. I've read that the ACT XT is a leg work out, and with a flywheel a little more pricey than the FM2 happy meal. Is there going to be any chance of slip with 330 whp and the FM2 happy meal combo?

Pics of my old mx5 club edition

Thanks

That is my favorite NC Miata period. Someday I'd like to get me one just like it and do almost exactly what you are doing.

What is done for engine management on the NCs? Can their ECUs be hacked?

Xede hardware or an outfit like Dynotronics are used for the most part, from what I know.

It would be remote tuned by moto-east using ecutek. I'm guessing around 10-11 psi for the numbers I'm searching out of a gtx2867r.

The problem for me is finding a clutch that will hold the power and not break my foot. Also I'm wanted the clean engine bay look and I'm a perfectionist when it comes to the engine bay looking good. But the mp62 blower doesn't put out enough power for me so I need to turbo it.

curious, why the 2867?

And if the FM2 happy meal combo for the NC is anything like how it is on the NB... You'll be fine.

My experience is that clutches don't like living near the limit. Keep that in mind when shopping, but I'd suggest starting some calf exercises.

The ACT XT is a workout but you'll get used to it in no time.
It works nice and smoothly. Go practice on some 18wheelers and this will feel like nothing

Another option is the SL-1 carbon clutch. I have it of my NC with 330 WRHP. Best thing about it is stock clutch pedal feel. No need to strain your right leg.

I have the ACT XTSS for the 1.8 and really don't understand the fuss. My little wife can operate it just fine and she has fat people offering her a sandwich everywhere she goes.

You boys wear dresses to your tea parties or what? It's not a big deal. I drive mine in city traffic all day long sometimes with no complaints.

Hey, I take offense to that! I'm fat and I would never offer my sandwich to anyone.

This sums up my thoughts when I hear complaints about the FM lvl 2 clutch.

why do you prefer NC over C6 Z06 Vette?
Curious.

Z06, its phenomenal car...maybe you can enlighten us a little what's not to like?

I have "other cars", and still continue with my 6th Miata...so yes, I also find something.
But am sort of over that something at the moment- seeking some passion.

Thank you
