When I first installed the Greddy on my 90 I had the stock dp, FM Cat and FM 2.5" duals. The exhaust was louder than I expected but I could live with it. I could hear it spool up, suck in air and blow off.

This year I replaced the dp with Tony's 2.5" and replaced the cat with a 2.5" Hi-Flow cat. With 2.5" all the way it got a bit louder, guessing the unrestricted cat made the most difference in extra volume.

A few months back the tail pipe broke off, clean break at the weld on the muffler. The other side was cracking also. FM replaced it free under the lifetime warranty. A few changes in the new setup they sent, muffler isn't stamped Thermal like the old. Not sure if different vender or not.

But now it is louder still, can't hear anything but exhaust. And it is way to much when getting on it, don't want that much attention.

Thinking of putting a resonator in the connecting pipe something like this....

I notice in this FM picture for the duals it shows a resonator in the connecting pipe. Not sure if that is a NA pipe or what the deal is. Neither setup I received from them had it. Have an e-mail into them.

I've used a resonator like the linked one. It helps yes, but try to fit a larger one if possible for better suppression. (An oval shaped one instead of a bullet).

You could run an inline muffler as well if it fits. Also, get a better price than 70 bucks for that resonator.

I added a flowmaster hushpower II as my resonator: http://www.performancepeddler.com/. I've been very satisfied with it N/A.

Maybe double check first to make sure there isn't a small leak somewhere, especially at the gaskets. I also have Tony's DP, a aftermarket HF cat, and the older model (aka Thermal) FM turbo duals and it is not loud at all. Just something to check first before spending $$$.

All the flanges are tight, seems the gaskets are intact, don't see any obvious signs of exhaust leak. With it running I don't see or hear any leaks. Will have to pursue it further when the wife can help out...run up the revs while I poke around some more.

Probably can find other resonators and cheaper. Hadn't really looked too serious yet, that link was one of the first I came across. Problem with most online sites is need a vehicle in order to search for part. Like going into Checker auto...can't just ask for something, they have to input a vehicle. "But the 90 Miata doesn't have a turbo or 2.5" exhaust"

Take it too a good exhaust shop. Tell them to put the largest resonator in they can fit (probably 12"). I did just that with my Spec Miata Exhaust and with in about 15 minutes they cut a section out of the exuast and welded in the resonator. All on the car. Easy and only cost $60cnd.

Just my luck, but FM will correct things, top notch customer service.

Regardless, I plan to install this resonator in the connecting pipe anyway. I felt it was a bit too loud before the first swap....I must be getting old.

I love the 4" Magnaflow resonators. It's what they use on all their kits, fully Stainless and cheap

Dammit, I wish I would have known that you sell the resonators, I would have went through you instead of prostreet. Magnaflow always has a nice sound to them.

If you think that exhaust is loud, you should hear mine.
It's basically an open exhaust, no silencers\resonators, test pipe, and a supertrap with no discs in it. It's my daily driver.

2zooms: did you get a resonator? What type? How well did it work? What did FM do to rectify the loud exhaust problem?

FM had me send the muffler back to Thermal so they could rework it. In the mean time I put the RB duals from pre turbo back on. Didn't notice much performance difference. Sounds okay so decided to leave as is and sold the FM system.......
