Default Begi s4 kit plus gt2871

Hi Folks,I am living outside of the USA and have a chance of an unused s4 kit and am hoping some of you on here have had some 1st hand experiance of these? My car is a 2002 with stock engine internals. The kit is the full s4 with the gt2871 plus 3" inch exhaust system it also has the xede piggy back engine management system plus 550 injectors. So my questions are
1...that sounds like a big turbo to run on a std engine (I'm after driveability) so just how bad will it be compared to some of the smaller ones specd with the kit ie gt2560,2860 ?
2....they sound like big injectors also?
I'm after drivability with minimum lag aiming for max hp the std engine can handle reliably, which I think if its set up corrrectly is around 250bhp at the wheels? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the potential to blow your engine will be high.
it will be quite a bit more laggy compared to a 2560

You want a 2560.

Check out dyno plots here:
BEGi

I can't comment on 2860 but I have a precision 4828 which is essentially a 2860 with some upgrades. If I could do it all over again I would likely have a 2560 in it's place. From 4k rpm on it pulls really nice but with a stock motor I am limited in how much torque I trust my block handling on a daily basis and I would prefer that my powerband was shifted lower.

However, I AM on the BEGI cast manifold and 2.5" downpipe which will hurt spool a little but either way, I am barely 12psi now and I am straddling the line where I am endangering my rods. I can theoretically go up to 18psi or so with this turbo and over 300hp. I don't feel that I am getting the most out of this setup.

That said, if all you can get is the 2860 with the S4 and you can get it for a cheap price in good condition, I'd go for it and run it at wastegate pressure (8psi) until you can find a 2560 to swap with someone who wants to upgrade.

IF you go higher than 13psi (in my opinion) you risk blowing your motor.

EDIT: Just realized you are talking about 2871. I have heard good things about that turbo but you still want the 2560 as soon as you can. Everything else stands.

I'm going to guess it'll be something like that.

You say that you want driveability and quick spool.

GT2871: Is bigger than ideal on a stock motor. You will sacrifice spool for higher potential that you can't use without destroying your motor. That's why everyone is saying to get a 2560 instead. Here's a tread on spool data so you can review for yourself: https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo...ol-data-26641/

Xede: Very few people here use piggybacks because of poor driveability and tuneability. People around here call them "bandaids", which most have now shortened to "aids", so you can figure that out.

550 injectors: I'm assuming these are RC550's since they're coming with a BEGI kit. They're not generally regarded as being great injectors and pairing them with a piggyback is only going to make controlling them more difficult, hurting driveability further.

So in summary, every part you list will work, but there not anywhere close to what any sane person would consider given the 2 priorities you listed.
