on your boosted car what weight and type of oil do you run and what brand oil filter.... does it really matter that much as for long as it is like 5w-30 or 10w-30 and synth....

OEM filter. Mobil 1 10W-30.

I'd probably stick with the OEM oil filter.

As for oil, heavier weight and synthetic are supposedly good for turbo longevity from the gurus (aka Corky Bell, et al...). Some people go with even heavier weight oil or a blend, but it also depends upon your driving conditions such as ambient temps, car use, etc....

i use the filter from a v6 mx6. irionically, it's the same size as the one on my '03 si.

For some reason, emotions run high when when it comes to oil. What is important is oil level and oil quality. Use whatever brand you want, and make sure it's clean and full. Weight is a little tricky, and depends on environmental and driving conditions.

I'm suprised that the previous posters use the stock 2.5" miata filter. I also prefer an aftermaket 3.5" mx-3 v6 filter.

they use a Security 3593AS Filter

Most Toyota's used a 241 or a 2840

Ford uses a 195 or a 820 or if a diseal a like 2268

OEM oil filter and Millers 10w40 semi synthetic! However I change the oil frequently...probably about every 1000 miles....but do less than 6k miles per yr!

I used 5w40 Fully synthetic a few times but developed oil leaks!

oe filters tend to give me a more consistant op reading i have tried many including the expensive K&N 13 bucks, cheapo fram and in between. the oe seems to be the best.

So my oil pressure "problem" could be because i'm using a "good" K&N filter? it did start about the time i switched from a purolator to the K&N.....guess i'll find out for sure next time i change my oil when i throw a mobil 1 filter in
