Default garret outlet flange question

im looking to pull a garret t3 off a volvo or saab. Ive noticed that the outlet flanges do not have a port for the waste gate. obviously it doesnt need one but why? the t25 outlet flanges ive seen have a hole for the wastegate. would it be benificial to add a port and run a sepperate tube down the main exhaust and connect it about 18 inches down the line? here are some pics of what im talking about http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/index2.html

also ive heard that on the volvo turbos all you need to do to make them bolt up to a standard t3 inlet flange is grind down the lip on the housing. does anyone know anything about this?

For the volvo inlet flange you will just have to have the lip machined flat so it will bolt up to a standard T3 mani. That is just a standard job with a mill, any machine shop should be able to do that. I don't suggest grinding it yourself, you will never get it perfectly flat enough.
