Coolant Leaking From Intake Manifold?
#42
slidin as i said before the failure of the harmonic balancer isn't a 1 time slide deal it is failing +- as the car turns over, there is now way even if you make a new mark that you will be able to use it to set your ignition for the right value trust me ive tried it sounds and looks to me like your timming is fubared, and possibly your fuel filter is clogged up. tell phill or who ever is working on it to check your fuel pressure to make sure everything is within range if the pressure is low then change the filter and recheck if it stayds low check the fpr, if it is high you have a block in the return but since you have a lean issue i think the problem is the feed GL Is akarya there with you i am surprised he hasn't fixed the problem yet

Yea, Phil is putting on a new Cog, Key, Boss Pulley, Head Gasket, Fuel Filter, Walbro Fuel Pump, and just checking everything to make sure its good. And Ryan came down to help with the motor install. He came and put the block in with me, then I put on the Manifolds and head (thats where I siliconed the head STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID) Then He came back and did like the wiring connections, slave, **** like that, then I did the radiator, turbo stuff, ic, ic piping, then he was gone. Then I started it up and CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK. ****! I think i blocked the oil port with silicone. So thats why phil is putting that HG in there.

Lol.

well...
I was in the shop while he was doing my fuel pump. and the gas tank was past E. So he was done, car started right up, seemed to drive pretty good and boost was about 3 becuase I turned it down and the ic dropped it. so i drove to the gas station, about half a mile. didnt notice anything, then i drove to my friends shop , about another half mile, and there is oil all over the front of the car. He had to take the cog off and replace it and it took him Two hours to get it off, it was on there pretty good. dam rust. so is it possible he hit the front seal, and messed it up? I told him to change the front seal, but he said he doesnt want to taouch it if it isnt messed up......Could this be the culprit?
Oh, I called but he was gone alraedyk,so i have to take it to him int he morning.

Have the breather line hooked up before the turbo? Otherwise there are four main places oil can leak from on the motor: Headgasket, Front Main seal, and the cam gear seals, and the cam cover gasket. Does it look concentrated down below or weeping from the top and hitting the belts?

It looks like its from down beliw and the timing belt hits it up around the top of the motor kinda. And I have no hood on right now, so it was splashing my windsheld. Im tkaing it back tommorrow morning and im pretty sure its the front seal because if the head was warped I dont tink it would run so good. Would it? But it seems like front main seal to me. We will find out tommorrow. So i left it at my friends shop, its like a half mile away from Phils shop so he can start working on it again :/

Sooooo
i got my car back today.
It seems to drive pretty good.
Boost is at about 6-8 and doesnt spike more then ten I dont think.
The IC Piping kept popping off, But I blew my friends 5.0 away.
And I was about to run this Vette......And well.....Popped off agian haha.
So, this time when it popped off, I noticed some oil in the coupler.
I know that this is caused by blow by, but Isnt Blow by suppose to happen if your rings are bad? Ohhh, now that I think about it, When I drove it home, i noticed a REALLY high idle, i checked and my pvc valve was in half Haha. Could that cause blow by at all? ( of coarse i changed to another 323 turbo)
My friend Said I was blowing a little white smoke, so maybe thats from the oil?
Thanks all!

so your poor grammar is saying the the PCV valve was bad, then you replaced it?
if so, the bad one would have pressureized the crankcase, and blown oil up the return line and through the turbo seals, into the compressor, and into the intercooler pipes, some would burn off as well, causing the smoke.
should run fine now if you put the 323 valve in, just clean out your pipes and connectors and it should go away once you burn off any excess that might still exist.

Phew. Ok cool. i was worried.
One more before I go out there.
If I am pinging, Do I want to retard timing or advacne?
I ask becaue, My friends said that they tihnk i dropped a bunch of change...When I have none...Haha.
It could be that my passenger door is stiped, a bunhc of the hangers in there could just be rattling.
But I just checked my timing and its at 9 and bipes pulls 5 or 6 full retard.
And octane is 91

why are you going out racing people when you aren't even sure exactly how to properly tune your car so it doesnt blow up again?
spiking to 10psi is not good if you cant support it.
pinging will KILL the engine.
you can "see" ping by watching your oil pressure gauge, it will freak out when the engine is detonating. With your bipes settings that can mean a few things; your IC sucks or you dont have enough fuel, etc.
pinging will sound like a bunch of marbles rattling inside the engine, listen VERY closely. Don't go shopping for a new engine already.
Are you using the FMU supplied with the GReddy kit?
