Big thanks to the community - This next batch is complete and we couldn't be more pleased with how well this kit is performing. Quality is what sells it, outside of this thread we've done VERY little marketing and I'm sure we've shipped more NC kits this year than any one manufacturer.

Just curious

why did you choose the aluminum chra?
the weight difference is only a couple of pounds but if you lose cooling to the aluminum one - you have to throw it away..

This is a good question - The aluminum does a better job of dissipating heat and yes, it's lighter but that's not a great place for major weight savings if it were the only benefit. It's my understanding that nearly any loss of coolant on a water cooled turbo will result in rather quick failure, regardless of the housing material. Beyond the very early development of the aluminum supercore I don't think there have been recorded issues in this area.

The non aluminum housings can be run without water. The water is important for cool down.

According to the EFR training when you aren't running water then take care during cool down.

Great info, thanks! I wouldn't recommend running either of them without water on a street car and I think the reasons are obvious. "Turbo compassionate cool down procedures" sound like something I'm not interested in explaining to a customer who just purchased a very well polished, daily drivable system for their nice Miata. Additionally I could see that being a major player in how well Borg handles your warranty if a failure occurs.

I definitely agree. But loss of water shouldn't cause death.

Ok guys, it seems like every time we "stock up" on these kits we are wiped clean of them. Time to step up our production game.. Here's what 200lbs of flange blanks looks like.

Financing keeps coming up in conversation so we're offering the following. Seemed to work well with our per-production guys.

Instead of placing your order online:
-Create an account on our site
-Contact me at Products@Fab9Tuning.com with your requested configuration details
-I will collect a smaller deposit for producing the kit
-The total amount will be requested upon completion but it's not required, take your time.

If you have any questions please let me know. We have 5 customers that are currently doing this. If you need substantially more time after your kit is complete we will notify you if we have someone is in line that is ready to complete their purchase. You can say "sure, ship it to them" or "Nope, I'd like to keep my kit allocated".

Cheers,
Bryan

Two more kits being packed up now...

I've said this in the past, if you guys have a color scheme you'd like to sustain I'm happy to accommodate, go to Prismatic Powders and ship your powder to us. ZERO additional charge for this...

I'll get you one carved up this week.

Joe this one is for you, or at least your making Christmas a whole hell of a lot cooler for one of your customers.

We're waiting on custom powder coat for another kit and it's hitting the mail too! Seems like we can't make these fast enough.

Holy stainless, Batman! I don't know how it's possible but John is raising the welding quality bar, again. I finally wrapped up these intercoolers and charge pipes so one welding/farmers tan later, the light is GREEN for shipping!

It's been a minute since our last update, as usual.. playing catch up. I just wanted to mention that I love this competitive attitude coming from both Joe and Jay - I truly believe it's making each of them better tuners.

Tuning an NC with this system on it is absolutely different than anything either of these guys has seen before, MORE power that happens EARLIER in the power band than anything each of them have touched.

Both albuquerquefx and twenzel seem to be thrilled with their results and I just wanted to take the time to commend each of these tuners for kicking some serious butt over the past 3 months or so.

Those of you who would like to remain on a MAF, we've followed the request of Jay and produced a 3.5" intake that will be offered as an optional configuration. If you're tuning with Joe, he's comfortable with speed density and seems to prefer the 3" intake that comes standard.
