Unhappy I"m breakin down

Well after trying to beat a dead horse (my 1.6 w/ a wobbly crank) back to life w/ an emanage and intercooler I've decided it's time to move on to a 1.8L. Trying to revive something that is already in a sad state is just not workin. I'm gonna buy a 1.8 near me at a dismantler for $500 and rebuild and swap it into my car. I however will be back. I am going to see if my etd manifold that i recently bought can be retrofitted onto the 1.8 via the header plate? that etd also sells. In the interm its gonna be de-turbo time and obx header time instead. So heres to hopefully a faster road down the line
to braineack: Im now bringing out the dead :gay:

sorry to hear your frustrations. What's a header plate? If the manifold is the replacement 1.6 one I'd be interested in picking it up if you're selling it.

I second that. If you're at the point of giving up, just take it to a shop with a competent welder. Tell them to postition the pulley correctly on the crank and weld the key, crank and pulley boss in position. Done. You might consider a new timing belt before hand. That's a lot less work and dough than an engine.

i had a 323gtx with a wobbly crank and the locktite fix with split washers worked nicely for a while. my buddy bought it off me and made a positive mold of the rounded keyway and machined a custom key to fit the snout and the pulley. 22psi, the engine has no issues.

I could locktite it but the motor already has about 146K+ miles on it w/ about 25,000 of those turbo'd and eh i figure it will be easier to coerce more power outta a 1.8 than the 1.6, in addition i wanna rebuild a motor and I like knowing about whatever is running in my car it just makes problems easier to diagnose.
Turbored i may actually sell that manifold to you and just buy a premade one for the 1.8
