I have 2 resonanators, no muffler. I'll try to get a sound clip Sunday, it all depends if my Emanage wants to be nice to me. I have yet to hear it under boost, but under normal driving conditions it sounds nice.

Welding is easy, making good welds is hard. I'm going to practice some more. I'd like to weld up something usefull but that wont kill the car if it breaks.

That's right, surprising that they can get away with that on a production car...

If you can get me a good picture of the stock SRT system I will do my best. I need both the front and rear sections in the picture.

actually the SRT4 uses an upstream dynamic exhaust energy reduction device. it dissipates energy (and noise) in the exhaust by converting it to mechanical power.

I thought they looked great. I am a novice with a welder and I would have just burnt through that thin piping. Good job!

....Yeah, what he said.

rmcelwee thanks! I thought they were decent, but I don't have much to compare to. I don't see too many hand done welds ever, only machine. I practiced on some extra piping first, I burnt through it like crazy. The guy who owns the welder told me to make zig-zags while going along. I did that and I just found a good pace that didn't burn through. I would love to buy a welder and practice until I am good, it's so much fun.

the trick is to go hotter. I get the best results on exhaust piping (16-14Ga) by cranking up the heat. who doesn't love nice deep penetration?

^ ZING.

my miata has a very similar exhaust setup. I run one resonator and no muffler. It's not as loud as you might think (the turbo really DOES dissipate most of the noise), but it's still a bit loud for my tastes. I intend to weld on a muffler one day.

My roommates N/A 1.6 is louder with a cat and straight through resonator than my car is open downpipe. His is so loud we wear ear plugs on long road trips. I would drive my car open downpipe before his anyday.

I am another one with no muffler. I am running a 14" long 3" diameter louvered resonator and a Cat. Most of my buddies are surprised at how quiet it actually is. Its not quiet but not really loud.

I'm trying to get one. I don't have a video camera, but my girlfriend does. I just need to get to her house. I planned to get it tonight, but the Emanage doesn't want to be nice to me and let the car run. I'll get it as soon as I can.

Well it isn't the best, but it was the only video I could make. At idle it sounds exactly like it does in real life. However while its revving in real life it is deeper. I'm pretty sure its just the cameras mic not being able to handle the volume. It's just a Cannon Powershot A540. Anyway, to the good part, my SRT-4 exhaust cut up and stuck under my Miata!
