I saw it and was wondering if anyone has tried it and does it work? turbo engines run very hot, so would this product really help? and i heard it can be stacked aslo.......

FWIW, I would think a turbo engine would run at about the same temp as any engine since the coolant system determines engine heat (I think). The gasket doesn't (if you were thinking it did) make your engine run cooler. In fact, it probably makes it run hotter since it doesn't use the intake manifold to dissapate heat.

I neglected to mention in my post that I believe it is worth it. Maybe the best HP mod that $40 can buy (other than $40 in cooler air ducting) <G>.

I have no datalogs that show this but theory would say that it would work so I believe it does. One thing that really sold me on it is that FM tells you to change some of your link settings when you install a gasket. There would be no need to change settings if it wasn't actually doing something.

All it does is insulate heat transfer from the cylinder head to the intake manifold (through conduction) It will not stop convection or radiation.

thanks for the info on this. I have looked at the link and seen that there is a temp drop with the gasket. that should mean that even is the engine radiates heat through air, its not transfered through the head which in turns will have cooler air traveling through the intake manifold. this should help in hot weathers with power wise. but what i dont understand is, if the coolent jacket is blocked off, does that mean that the coolent will get hotter because it is not disapating heat through the intake manifold? is that why mazda put a line through the intake manifold or what is the purpose of the coolent circulating through the intake manifold? Hondata gives some specs on it. http://hondata.com/heatshieldgasket.html i think it should work, but not too sure.

All I know is that I can easily lay my hand on the cool intake manifold but I pull away a chared nubb if I try to put my hand on the cam cover.

It should work in all weather. It is a good thing any time you can reduce air temperature.


No, I was actually just being stupid (trying to be funny) when I said that. The coolant temp is dependant on the thermostat (if your coolant system is working correctly). Mazda uses the hot water to keep the throttle body from icing up in cool weather as well as using the water temp to open up the thermostatic valve on the side of your intake manifold when the engine gets warm.
