Default Check valve on Bosch BOV?

I have this Bosch BOV that has this huge thing on it, that ryan said was a check valve.
What does the check valve do?
I hooked up the BOV today, and it makes NO noise like a bov, no WHOOSH no whistle, but, on the check valve part, it lets out a Poof of air.
Does this sound right?
Is this w hat the check valve does?
I like the stealthy ness of it.

do you have any pictures?

I have a blue check valve on mine. All it does is close the BOV until until it is time to blow off. The car will not idle without the check valve. It would be a huge vacuum leak.

If you have a white check valve from lowes, It sucks the spring is probable bad. I blew out three cores on the white ones.

The check valve only allows air to pass one way.

Yea, its white, and like...Huge. Like an egg or something.
I dont have the camera here either, I wanted to take a pic.
But its super quiet, which I kinda like.
Is there anyway I can check to see if its bad?

un screw it and suck on one side and blow on the other. If you can suck air through it yes it is bad. Air should only pass one way.

If you have an egg shapped one It is not the same as mine.

if you remove check valve, you removed the ability for the car to idle....

If it's plastic, it's not going to last long. Mine lasted the equivalent of 3 track days before it gutted itself.

I have a brass one Home Depot style. I have a two stage boost controller, on low boost (less than 5psi) it doesn't even blow off. On high boost (5-7psi) it'll make noises. I'm recirculating when I make my intercooler stuff though.
