Hey guys,

I have a 90 that is still bone stock right now.
I just purchased a complete Greddy system with 2k on it.

I would like to know what my first steps that I should take with the Greddy.

Any tips on the base system? should I change any of the Greddy components right away?

What would be the best first additional mod be?

I am thinking :

timing (bipes or Link)
new DP and full 2.5 or 3 exhaust
I/C

any other ideas or opinions?

I have a good K&N that i can use
which bolts are the important ones just the Manifold ones? Where do i get the upgraded ones and what are the specs

Tighten the wastegate rod to eliminate slack should be your first mod... Quick and free.

Do your relief cuts on the exhaust manifold. Order the manifold studs from Flyin' Miata. Better yet, dump the stock log and upgrade to an ETD, then order the studs from Flyin' Miata.

For your intercooler, a board member "Stripes" sells pre fabbed pipes for the greddy kit for like $200. You can then go buy the couplers and ebay intercooler somewhere else. Takes the pain out of DIY IC problems.

I used the stock studs for the head to manifold connection. I used grade 8 studs for the manifold to turbo and grade 8 bolts for the downpipe to turbo connection. You can pick up all the bolts and studs at your local autoparts store like Murrays.

Did you put the kit on yet?

I say 1st if the kit is not on yet make relief cuts, upgrade to grade 8 bolts and tighten your wastegate all the way.

Get a wideband 02 sensor for proper tuning!

Upgrade your downpipe and exhaust. Tonyturbo has a real nice DP!!! Just PM him. Oh yeah and an intercooler or water injection.

Then take it from there with fuel and tuning depending in your power goals.

Best bang for the buck as the 1st step would be a larger exhaust. Even without an IC, at 5-6 psi, a 2.5" or larger exhaust will give you the greatest hp increase for the $ without having to upgrade other parts as well.

Yesss, it rattles a lot if it isn't tightened, at least mine did. Plus, the WG is constantly partly open if there's slack. Still have yet to drive it though thanks to the INJ circuit

I don't have it yet, but i will check that out once installed...
This basically fools the wastegate and gives an extra ~PSI or so, correct?

The wastgate does have the relief cuts made already.

I will look into upgrading the bolts. and I will keep my eyes open for an upgraded Manifold, what is the flange on the TD04h turbo again?

And what if anything can be done to help keep the greddy mani from cracking??

Allowing your car to cool down before shutting off the engine is supposed to help with thermal expansion and contraction. Beyond that and the relief cuts, I honestly don't know what else you can do.

The Bipes should be your first upgrade. It will protect your engine and give you better low end torque. Good tuning is where you make power. Bad tuning with a nice IC, header, and all that other stuff still means blown engine or crappy power.

BTW, I am not a Greddy owner so I don't know what comes in a base kit. I am assuming you are getting proper fueling.

Yes the relief cuts have been made! anyone have a pic of these studs and nuts I should be changing? (i wont have the kit for a few weeks as our cars are in storage for the winter)

You guys think exhaust should be done before timing control?

I was thinking of getting a BIPES and then DP and exhaust...
